Position Summary

Position Overview:

The Sourcing Specialist supports individual sourcing projects and/or a set of assigned commodities by deploying best practices, procurement tools and negotiation skills. This role works collaboratively and proactively to identify process, sourcing and contract improvement opportunities. The Sourcing Specialist will also assist in contract execution, implementation and supplier reviews for assigned contracts.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Identifies and manages new suppliers, develops bid evaluations, cost analyses, price justification, and risk assessment of suppliers
  • Conduct supplier negotiations and contract execution
  • Collaborate with suppliers to develop and manage continuous improvement programs, addressing quality, delivery, service as well as price
  • Supports New Product Development programs working closely with the Engineering and Quality teams.
  • Develop risk management and supplier backup contingency programs
  • Ensure 80% of direct spend is covered by long term agreements (LTA) and year over year cost savings are achieved
  • Create a competitive & simplified supplier portfolio through supplier reduction and supplier risk mitigation
  • Continuously increase payment terms and shorten lead times to support cash flow optimization
  • Coordinates and participates in supplier meetings
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required:

  • 4-year college degree Supply Chain management or relevant discipline
  • Minimum of 2+ years in Purchasing, Supply Chain or related field
  • Experience with supply chain concepts and methodologies preferably in the manufacturing industry
  • Ability to manage multiple, fluid priorities and proactively address business demands in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational and planning skills and the demonstrated ability to lead and manage projects
  • Ability to prioritize and allocate resources to align with department and company goals
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to create strong working relationships
  • Must be flexible to work extended hours to support the requirements of the business
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office

Preferred:

  • Machining background
  • Demonstrated experience implementing continuous improvement principles such as Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen or other value analysis tools
  • Experience with Procurement Transactions within SAP
