HJF is seeking a Sr Financial Analyst to be responsible for financial analysis, reporting on individual research projects, development of analysis and reports, and projection of future award performance. Participates in monthly meetings with customers and reviews financial award portfolio on a consistent basis as required.

This position will be in support of the Financial & Manpower Management (FMG) Department.

The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine.   • Serves as a technical authority responsible for communicating project scope, funding availability, and authorized uses with Program Managers and the Office of Special Programs, while effectively translating financial management needs into functional requirements.
  • Oversees the full financial life cycle-from distributing and monitoring budget status, reviewing award financial status and portfolio performance, forecasting funding requirements, and adjusting for mission modifications to preparing mandated financial reports for the Defense Health Agency (DHA), Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS), and external executive audiences-ensuring organizational requirements support the Department's Future Years Defense Plan and the President's Budget.
  • Leads the development and execution of long-range budget projections, including the preparation of Program
    Objective Memorandums and Budget Estimate Submissions for the Defense Health Agency (DHA).
  • Conducts budget and award status reviews to assess financial execution against established milestones. Analyzes expenditure variances, burn rates, funding trends, and projected requirements to identify fiscal risks, recommends corrective actions, and advises Program/ Department contacts of any deficits and other financial issues.
  • Develops and analyzes program reports and evaluates financial activities to support the implementation and enhancement of automated financial management systems.
  • Provides recommendations for process improvements to meet program objectives, resolves process conflicts, coordinates with functional specialists, and participates in program kick-off, recurring status, and closeout meetings to identify and address program financial requirements. Interprets policy to ensure mission success.
    Review of award financial status-portfolio monitoring.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in a business related discipline required.
  • 6-8 years of relevant work-related experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of spreadsheet software and financial systems.
  • Ability to structure and perform sophisticated financial projections and analyses.
  • Ability to manage time and multiple tasks effectively.
  • Ability to assimilate detailed information into the bigger picture.
  • Sound business judgment to take appropriate actions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with strong focus on customer service.
  • Must possess strong knowledge of DoD Financial Management Regulations.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a T1 Public Trust background check.

Physical Capabilities

  • Ability to sit or stand at a computer for prolonged periods.

Work Environment

  • This position will take place primarily in a office environment.

Compensation

  • The annual salary pay range for this position is $77,600-$115,000. Actual salary will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
