This position is located at GSU (Georgia State University) Perimeter College's Dunwoody campus and serves both the Dunwoody and Alpharetta campus communities. Regular work at both campuses is required. The Dunwoody Campus sits on 100 acres in a residential area of north DeKalb County, where the college has developed a strong reputation as a community partner and institution for higher learning. About 10 miles north of Atlanta, the campus boasts a culturally diverse student body and vibrant student life activities, including the annual, well-attended international festival. Dunwoody is recognized for its highly regarded dental hygiene program. In addition, the Dunwoody Campus Observatory is an attraction for astronomy students and the local residents who enjoy night sky viewing.

The Alpharetta Campus is popular for students interested in business and in Dual Enrollment, a program that allows high school students to attend college and high school simultaneously. Science-minded students also find a welcome home on Alpharetta Campus, where Perimeter College offers physics, astronomy, chemistry, biology, upper-level math and computer science classes and labs. A multi-million-dollar wing of biology and chemistry labs on the campus is preparing students for work in the growing Alpharetta and north Fulton County science and technology industries.

The University Library is hiring a forward-thinking and collegial Learning and Engagement Librarian based at the Dunwoody Campus.

Responsibilities

You should be eager to partner with faculty in their teaching and engage with students in their first and second years, primarily in developing the information literacy and research skills that support the University's College to Career Competencies Initiative, such as critical thinking, written/oral communication, digital technology, and global/intracultural fluency.

* Participate in developing innovative instruction techniques, tools, and assessments
* Participate in student and faculty outreach activities throughout the university
* Provide reference service in-person and online
* Create and maintain multimedia web-based information literacy and instructional materials
* Engage and support the faculty, staff, and students' research, teaching, and learning needs
* Support peers' shared learning and practical exploration of AI tools and practices relevant to library instruction, workshops, outreach, research support, and faculty collaboration.

This librarian serves as a member of the library faculty (12-month; non- tenure track), holds faculty rank, and is expected to participate in service activities as outlined in the University Library's faculty guidelines. Librarian Faculty Rank Requirements

Librarian Instructor - an entry level probationary rank requiring little or no professional experience and is based on potential. Appointments at this rank shall require expectation of successful overall performance and the potential for a promising career in librarianship or archival science.
Librarian Assistant Professor - Minimum three full years of service at the rank of Librarian Instructor.
Librarian Associate Professor - Minimum of five full fiscal years of service at the rank of Librarian Assistant Professor.
Librarian Professor - Minimum of five full fiscal years of service at the rank of Librarian Associate Professor

Master's degree from an ALA-accredited program.

* Creativity, initiative, and interest in innovative approaches to reference/research assistance, library instruction, and outreach work.
* Experience with outreach and/or programming.
* Experience teaching or providing library instruction in face-to-face and/or virtual settings.
* Experience creating digital learning objects.
* Working knowledge of new and emerging technologies.
* Interest in ethical and responsible uses of AI in library instruction, student learning, research support, or faculty collaboration.

* Ability to work effectively with culturally diverse library users and colleagues.
* Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to travel between campuses and participate in online meetings.
* Familiarity with artificial intelligence tools and their potential uses in teaching, learning, research support, or related professional contexts.
