The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Overview:

The Plumber Inspects, installs, repairs and replaces pipes, fittings and plumbing fixtures to maintain the heating, water, gas and drainage systems of the Medical Center. The Plumber is responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (i.e. damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas) and medical errors, etc.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High School Diploma or Completion of Trade School
  • 1 -3 years prior experience in industrial maintenance
  • Valid NJ Driver's License

Preferred:

  • Certified Plumber's license

Schedule:

  • Full-Time, Monday-Friday, 7:00AM-3:30PM
  • Flexibility for occasional emergency and off-hours scheduled repair
  • Days

Essential Functions:

  • Inspects, installs, repairs and replaces pipes, fittings and plumbing fixtures to maintain the heating, water, gas and drainage systems of the hospital
  • Occasionally repair steam low pressure and condensation return pipes and install pipe assemblies and plumbing fixtures
  • Performs preventative maintenance inspection on all plumbing fixtures, piping and associated equipment in a technically accepted, safe and efficient manner
  • Assists in the operation and maintenance of heating and air conditioning systems
  • Makes observation reports on general maintenance problems, advises Lead Plumber of conditions requiring attention.
  • Performs preventative maintenance inspection on all plumbing fixtures, piping and associated equipment in a technically accepted, safe and efficient manner.
  • Replaces defective pipes; solders and caulks leaks and broken pipes.
  • Must be flexible to respond occasional emergency and available to for off hours scheduled repair
  • Is familiar with the nomenclature, use, and installation of reducing pressure relief, surge, check, float gate, globe, thermostatic, unions, sleeves, bushings, reducers, steam traps, strainers, and other fittings and valves.
  • Utilizes skills to perform work as directed by manager or director
  • Performs work in any of the skilled trades as a mechanic or as an assistant to a skilled tradesman as required
