What to Expect
The Staff Claims Examiner is responsible for managing high-exposure, complex, and litigated claims, including catastrophic injuries, excess limit exposures, and high-profile cases. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in handling auto insurance claims (and or commercial/homeowner lines), a solid understanding of litigation processes, and a proven ability to negotiate settlements. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the timely and fair resolution of complex claims while adhering to legal standards and best practices, with a strong focus on customer service and protecting the interests of both insureds and the company. High prior individual settlement authority is highly sought after.

  • Managecomplexcoverageissues,excesslimitexposures,catastrophicinjuries,high-profilecases,andlitigatedclaims,withafocusoncustomerservice
  • Communicatewithpolicyholders,adjusters,leadership,legalcounsel,andotherrelevantstakeholderstoresolveclaims
  • Maintainaccuraterecordsofclaimsandensurecompliancewithstate/federalregulations
  • Attendmediationsand/ortrials,representingthecompany'sinterestsandensuringalignmentwithlegalstrategies
  • Assessthecostofdefenseversusindemnity,analyzingfinancialandlegalimplicationstosupportstrategicdecision-makingwhileprotectingtheinsuredsand/orthecompany'sinterests
  • Providestrategicdirectiontodefensecounsel,negotiatetimelyandfairsettlements,overseelossadjustmentexpenses,andofferactionablerecommendationstotheclaimsmanagementteamonsettlementordefensestrategies

What You'll Bring
  • 10+yearsofauto, homeowner, or commerical liability claims experience requried, 2+ years of insurance defense work prefered
  • Degree or equivalent experience, law degree preferred
  • Licensed to practice law in the state of California prefered
  • Extensiveexperiencewithhigh exposurebodilyinjury,commercialliability,orhomeowners'litigation
  • Priorhighsettlementauthority
  • Prior experiencementoringjuniorexaminers/adjustersorprovidingtechnicalguidanceoncomplexfiles
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage a demanding workload while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
