What to Expect
As Tesla'sCivil/Structural Project Manager, you will own the entire structural steel supply chain from mill order through final bolt-up: tracking mill runs, coordinatingwith the design teamto maximize fabrication efficiency, managing IFF drawing packagetimelines, coatings, and field erection. You will be embedded with the design team to ensure structural decisions are made with mill schedules and fabricator capabilities in mind, not discovered lateinto the procurement process. This is a technical, fast-paced procurement andconstruction managementrole for someone who knows exactly how steel moves from a mill to a connection at elevation, and what it takes to make that happen on schedule atlargerefinery scale.

What You'll Do
  • Own the full structural steel supply chain from mill order through field erection, tracking heat production, mill run schedules, fabrication shop progress, coatings, and delivery against an integrated procurement and erection master schedule
  • Integrate with the structural design team to optimize design decisions around mill run availability, standard section sizes, and fabricator shop capabilities, ensuring structural choices accelerate the procurement schedule rather than constrain it
  • Manageand pull inthe IFF (Issued for Fabrication) drawing release process, coordinating between engineering, the fabricator, and field erection teams to maintain continuous shop loading, prevent fabrication gaps, and sequence delivery to match erection priorities
  • Evaluate and choose contracting strategy for fabrication and steel erection on site.Write and manage RFPs for structural steel fabrication and erection contracts, leading technical bid evaluations, scope clarification, commercial negotiation, andcontract award with a best-value, safety-firstand schedule-aggressivemindset
  • Track all steel through every supply chain stage:procurement, fabrication shop, coatings (paint systems, galvanizing), third-party inspection, delivery, and field staging, maintaining real-time visibilityof member statusand resolving delays before they reach the critical path. Communicate and balance the needs of multiple Process Area project managers and critical milestones
  • Manage structural steel budget and cost performance: track fabrication and erection costs against baseline, administer change orders, approve pay applications, and report cost and schedule status to program leadership with precision
  • Drive field erection performance byevaluating production rates, connection sequencing, inspection hold points, bolt-up and torque inspection, and QC requirements with the erection subcontractor and site construction team to sustain schedule velocity through topping out

What You'll Bring
  • 5+ years of project management experience in structural steel fabrication, procurement, and erection on major industrial, refinery, commercial, or infrastructure construction projects. Experience managing mass foundation installation is an asset
  • Expert in data management, detail oriented and a proven ability to track thousands of steel members, and many different structures in various states ofdesign, fabrication and erection accurately
  • Deep knowledge of the structural steel supply chain: mill ordering, heat tracking, AISC fabrication standards, shop drawing review, connection detailing coordination, and erection sequencing and planning
  • Experience interfacing with structural engineers during design development to optimize section selection, connection details, and drawing release sequencing for fabrication efficiency and schedule alignment with mill runs
  • Proven ability to manage steel contracts end-to-end:RFP development, bid evaluation, contract administration, changeorder management, and milestone-based payment applications for both fabrication and erection scopes
  • Strong project controls skills: multi-stage procurement tracking, integrated schedule management, cost forecasting, and clear executive-level reporting across a complex steel supply chain
  • Degree in Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering, construction management, or equivalent technical discipline preferred, or equivalent experience; PE licensure, or AWS D1.1 familiarity are a strong assets
