Azure Pipeline Deployment Engineer- Expert

As required by our governmental client, this position requires being a US Citizen AND an active TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph clearance.

Azure Pipeline Deployment Engineer/System Engineer - Expert Cherokee Preting is seeking critical support in cloud modernization and secure software delivery initiatives. In this role, you will design, implement, and maintain automated deployment pipelines that enable rapid, reliable, and compliant delivery of mission critical applications. This position requires strong technical depth in Azure DevOps, CI/CD automation, and cloud native deployment patterns.

Compensation & Benefits:

Estimated Starting Salary Range for Azure Pipeline Deployment Engineer- Expert: $195,000-205,000

Pay commensurate with experience.

Azure Pipeline Deployment Engineer- Expert Responsibilities Include:

  • Design, build, and maintain Azure/Cloud DevOps CI/CD pipelines supporting application deployments across development, test, and production environments.
  • Implement automated build, test, and release processes using YAML pipelines, Git repositories, and Azure DevOps Services.
  • Manage and optimize Azure infrastructure deployments using ARM/Bicep templates, Terraform, or similar IaC tools.
  • Collaborate with development teams to integrate secure coding, automated testing, and quality gates into deployment workflows.
  • Troubleshoot pipeline failures, deployment issues, and environment inconsistencies with a focus on root cause analysis and long-term stability.
  • Ensure compliance with BAE Systems security, configuration management, and change control processes.
  • Support containerized workloads using Docker and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) where applicable.
  • Monitor pipeline performance, implement improvements, and maintain documentation for operational continuity.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to continuous improvement of engineering practices.
  • Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and cross functional partners.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Azure Pipeline Deployment Engineer- Expert Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:

  • Bachelor's Degree and 11 years work experience or equivalent experience.
  • Experience designing and maintaining Azure, or other Cloud, DevOps pipelines (YAML and classic).
  • Hands on experience with Azure/Cloud services, including App Services, Key Vault, Storage, Networking, and Azure Monitor.
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD principles, DevSecOps practices, and automated deployment strategies.
  • Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (ARM, Bicep, Terraform).
  • Experience with Git based version control and branching strategies.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex deployment and configuration issues across cloud environments.
  • Familiarity with secure development and compliance frameworks.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative, mission driven environment.
  • Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills:
  • Experience supporting DoD or defense sector programs.
  • Knowledge of containerization and orchestration (Docker, AKS).
  • Experience integrating security scanning tools (SAST, DAST, dependency scanning) into pipelines.
  • Familiarity with PowerShell, Bash, or Python for automation.
  • Certifications such as AZ 400, AZ 104, or related Azure credentials
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal
