THE POSITION

The Department of Conservation & Natural Resources (DCNR) is seeking reliable Custodial Worker 1s who take pride in maintaining park facilities and value Pennsylvania's natural landscapes. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position helps keep park buildings, cabins and outdoor areas clean, safe and ready for public use. As a Custodial Worker 1, you will perform the following duties:

  • Facility Cleaning: Clean and disinfect toilets, sinks, showers, floors, and walls in restrooms, bathhouses, and cabins
  • Building Care: Scrub floors, dust surfaces, and polish furniture and fixtures in park buildings
  • Waste Management: Empty garbage cans, replace bags, and dispose of waste in dumpsters
  • Basic Repairs: Replace light bulbs, make simple repairs, and report larger scale issues to the supervisor
  • Outdoor Upkeep: Pick up litter, mow and trim grass, shovel snow, and maintain walkways
  • Equipment Transport: Operate a pickup truck or utility vehicle to move cleaning equipment and supplies throughout the park

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • This is a seasonal, full-time position with no healthcare benefits. There is not an option to buy into health care benefits. The season runs from approximately March 2026 until November 2026 at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment in March 2027.
  • Work will be scheduled 5 days/37.5 hours per week, and will include a 30-minute lunch. Work days and shifts will vary and will include holidays and weekends as needed.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
