Purchasing Coordinator (Japanese / English)

Location: Torrance, CA (Onsite)

Schedules:
Monday -

Friday, 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM (Note: Working schedule may fluctuate with rotating

shift start times, such as an 8:00 AM start, to be finalized at a later date).

Summary: An global food & beverage

manufacturing and distribution organization is seeking a proactive Japanese

Bilingual Purchasing Coordinator to join their team in Torrance, CA. This

position is responsible for maintaining inventory levels, production planning,

purchasing raw materials, and aligning finished goods availability with

customer demand. The ideal candidate brings 2-3 years of purchasing/production

coordination experience, strong negotiation skills, and bilingual fluency in

Japanese and English.

Essential

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:



  • International

    Purchasing Coordination:


    • Maintain

      inventory data across internal systems (QuickBooks, Dynamics 365 Business

      Central, Excel).
    • Collaborate

      with Sales and Purchasing Management to prepare and coordinate sea

      freight orders and production placements with Japan headquarters.
    • Work

      with regulatory and customs agencies to register and coordinate

      import/export documentation.
    • Track

      ocean/air shipments, create inbound shipping sheets, and communicate

      status to cross-functional teams.
    • Coordinate

      label and package designs between Japan, Sales, and Marketing teams.


  • Domestic

    Purchasing & Production Planning:


    • Partner

      with Sales and Purchasing teams to forecast demand and maintain required

      inventory stock.
    • Manage

      co-packer relationships, order placement, production scheduling, and

      inventory transfers to/from offsite cold storage.
    • Calculate

      required ingredient/flavor volumes, generate Purchase Orders (POs), and

      execute Bill of Materials (BOM) creation for final products.
    • Manage

      vendor schedules, shipment delivery dates, physical inventory counts, and

      label/packaging specifications.
    • Occasionally

      attend trade shows or conduct supplier site visits.


  • Departmental

    & Language Support:


    • Serve

      as a functional backup for Purchasing Assistant and Purchasing Manager

      responsibilities as needed.
    • Provide

      fluent English/Japanese translation for internal communications,

      technical documentation, and cross-border vendor interaction.




Qualifications



  • Strong

    negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Self-motivated

    and able to work independently to solve problems and drive process

    improvements.
  • Capability

    to analyze demand forecasts and make data-backed purchasing

    recommendations.
  • Ability

    to work effectively in a moderate-noise office environment and lift up to

    50 lbs. as needed.


Required



  • Bilingual

    proficiency in Japanese and English (reading, writing, and speaking) to

    communicate seamlessly across teams in the U.S. and Japan.
  • Bachelor's

    degree from a four-year college or university, or equivalent combination

    of education and experience.
  • Minimum

    2-3 years of experience in production, purchasing, procurement, or supply

    chain coordination.
  • Proficiency

    in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Valid

    California Driver's License.


Preferred



  • Experience

    in food/beverage ingredient, value-added ingredient, or nutraceutical

    industries.
  • Hands-on

    experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and QuickBooks.


The base pay range listed reflects what we reasonably expect to offer for this role. Actual pay may vary based on location, experience, and performance.
