Job Summary

The Class A CDL Driver is responsible for safely transporting materials to customer locations while ensuring timely deliveries and providing excellent customer service. This position operates Class A commercial vehicles, including 53-foot detachable trailers, manual transmission trucks, and automatic Freightliner flatbeds. The role consists of approximately 70% driving and 30% warehouse responsibilities, with warehouse duties increasing as business needs require. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, dependable, and comfortable interacting with customers while supporting daily warehouse operations.

Job Responsibilities



  • Safely operate Class A commercial vehicles, including 53-foot detachable trailers and flatbed trucks.
  • Transport and deliver pallets, pipe, fittings, and other materials to customer locations.
  • Complete local deliveries within assigned routes, typically within 45 minutes to one hour from the facility.
  • Validate delivery routes and directions before departure.
  • Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
  • Ensure all loads are properly secured and comply with applicable weight restrictions.
  • Unload or assist with unloading materials at customer locations.
  • Obtain customer signatures and verify delivery documentation for accuracy.
  • Pick up customer returns and verify returned materials match the requested documentation.
  • Retrieve local purchase orders and return packing lists as required.
  • Communicate with supervisors throughout the workday regarding delivery status and any issues.
  • Report vehicle defects, maintenance concerns, accidents, or moving violations promptly.
  • Fuel company vehicles as needed.
  • Assist with warehouse operations, including order picking, cleaning, loading, unloading, and general warehouse support.
  • Maintain compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety policies.
  • Provide professional, courteous customer service during all customer interactions.
  • Support operational goals by working overtime when business needs require.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Job Requirements



  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience operating Class A commercial vehicles.
  • Minimum of one (1) year holding a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License with the required state-issued non-excepted interstate self-certification designation.
  • Previous sit-down forklift experience.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to safely operate manual and automatic commercial vehicles.
  • Understanding that company vehicles are equipped with onboard camera systems.
  • Ability to safely load, secure, transport, and unload materials.
  • Ability to perform warehouse duties, including order picking and general housekeeping.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and commercial vehicle safety requirements.
  • Ability to lift, move, and handle materials throughout the workday.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed.


Education



  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
