Supervisory Inventory Control

Job Function: Inventory Control

Administers and operates the organization's warehouses, including processing, packaging and storage of supplies, materials and equipment.

  • Supervises the daily activities of business support, technicians and/or production teams
  • Sets priorities for the team to ensure task completion; coordinates work activities with other supervisors
  • Decisions are guided by policies, procedures and the local business plan; receives guidance and oversight from manager
  • Typically does not perform the work supervised

Key Responsibilities: Supervise Warehouse/Storeroom Staff

  • Supervises bargaining teams in various locations responsible for all warehouse functions including issuing, returning, and receiving material and parts, cycle counting, stocking material, removal of obsolete stock and entering data in the inventory management system; provides daily supervision of teams, ensuring that all relevant standards/proceduresare followed.
  • Supervises the teams responsible for the management of capital equipment and asset records lifecycle (creating asset records for brand new equipment, tracking asset disposition) and refurbishment of tools and materials.
  • Provides strategic directions to exempt employees, checks on progress on a regular basis and adjusts directions asneeded.
  • Ensures maximum productivity and efficiency of the operations in an environmentally conscious and safe manner.
  • Maintains acceptable standard warehouse and inventorypractices and policies while being responsive to internal client requests and external customer needs.
  • Responsible for asset recovery functions and annual dead stock review.
  • Audits storeroom practices and ensures the compliance with department policies and procedures.
  • Researches industry practices, new technology and work practices; employs continuous improvement methodologies to ensure operations are efficient, cost effective and meet all compliance and regulatory requirements; ensures compliance with PGE policies regarding inventory control.
  • Manages logistics on transportation of material and equipment.
  • Sets direction and oversees demand management for inventory.
  • Responsible for collaborating with multiple departments to ensure efficiency and meet customer needs.
  • Develops, maintains and monitors budgets (operating, maintenance and/or capital).
  • Hires employees, including interviewing, onboarding, performance reviews, training, etc.
  • Performs biweekly review and approval of time sheets.
  • Daily monitoring of inventory transactions over $2,000 to ensure accuracy.
  • Weekly review of all Cycle Count Adjustments toensure proper inventory control.
  • Retains employee records and disposition.
  • Shifts resources across different locations based on business need while coordinating needs for timeoff.
  • Approves employee expenses, etc.
  • Responsible for contract administration.
  • Works with external vendors to resolve problems and ensure efficient flow of material.
  • Hasownership of inventory system processes.
  • Has ownership and development of inventory training certifications.
  • Functions as the primary link between business agent and the work force by interpreting and enforcing work practices consistent with the labor agreement. Supports company in union negotiation efforts.
  • Promotes and trains team members and monitors safety practices. Actively engages in changing safety culture.
  • Monitors and manages expenditures, ensuring that all financial targets are met and examines any areas where budgets/expenditures vary from plan.
  • Represents inventory business process involving company initiatives.
  • Initiates and oversees completion of infrastructure improvement projects.
  • Actively engages in storm restoration efforts. Represents storeroom emergency preparedness.
  • Implements resourcing decisions and planning for team.
  • Partners with HR in the definition of jobs, recruitment, evaluation and selection processes.
  • Maintains knowledge of skill development tools/resources and advises on required outcomes for learning or development from knowledge of available tools and organizational development needs.
  • Assists employees in creating development plans and monitors progress.

Education/Experience/Certifications Education:

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, operations or other related field or equivalent experience.
  • Prefer five or more years in warehousing, supply chain, purchasing or administration.
