Overview

Southwire is seeking an Electrical Engineer II to support its North Campus manufacturing facility in Carrollton, GA. Reporting to the Engineering & Maintenance Manager, this individual will be responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and improving machine control systems to increase safety, reliability, efficiency, and product quality.

The hiring manager noted this role is very similar to the Electrical Engineer openings at BWP and is looking for someone with strong industrial controls experience who can support production equipment, troubleshoot PLCs, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot machine control systems and identify root causes of equipment issues
  • Implement control system improvements to enhance safety, reliability, and efficiency
  • Develop, modify, and support PLC and HMI applications
  • Support installation, startup, and commissioning of new and upgraded equipment
  • Troubleshoot AC/DC electrical systems and industrial control circuits
  • Support motors, relays, sensors, switches, and other field devices
  • Create and maintain electrical schematics and documentation
  • Partner with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to support plant objectives
  • Drive continuous improvement and reliability initiatives throughout the facility


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
  • 3+ years of electrical engineering experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Hands-on experience with industrial controls and automation systems
  • Experience troubleshooting PLCs and HMIs in a production environment
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics


Preferred Skills

  • Siemens TIA Portal
  • Rockwell Studio 5000 / Allen Bradley
  • AutoCAD Electrical
  • Power distribution and industrial networking
  • Instrumentation and control systems
  • Knowledge of NFPA 70E, NEC, and OSHA standards


Ideal Candidate

  • Manufacturing Electrical Engineer supporting plant operations
  • Strong PLC troubleshooting and programming experience
  • Comfortable working directly on the production floor
  • Experience in wire & cable, metals, automotive, paper, chemical, food, or other industrial manufacturing environments
  • Siemens experience is highly preferred, but strong industrial controls backgrounds will be considered
