Mental Health Therapist (In-Person)

Reports To: Mental Health Clinical Director

Location: Mental Health Clinic

FLSA Status: FTEX

The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Therapist provides diagnostic assessment and appropriate on-going therapy for patients diagnosed with a mental illness.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Direct Care- Provides mental health care to patients that meets evidenced based practice standards. Provides patient and/or family education and determines medical necessity and appropriate course of treatment based on approved treatment modalities.
  • Coordination of Care- Ensures coordination of care within the mental health clinic and with other care providers (primary care, specialty care, etc.), social service and other entities and family members.
  • Records Management- Documents comprehensive diagnostic assessment inclusive of DSM V diagnostic criteria, documents comprehensive progress notes as applicable, ensures utilization management of patient care, completes clinician portions of other documents, completes closure of patient record per protocol and demonstrates that effective, necessary and sufficient treatment were provided. Creates treatment plan that reflects appropriate, measurable and time-based goals with regard to patient symptoms, diagnoses, needs and abilities.
    • Completes treatment plans (all applicable areas including signatures) in a timely manner consistent with policy.
    • Completes documentation of visits within standards of Medical Staff by-laws.
  • Treatment Team participation- Responsible for being an active member of the treatment team. Demonstrates ability and willingness to be approachable and available for consultation. Is an active participant in multi-disciplinary staffing.
  • General Clinician Accountabilities- Works as an interdisciplinary team member to support patient care and safety, identifies appropriate procedure charge for treatment on the date of service and provides education upon request. Also participates in quality, patient safety, and patient satisfaction initiatives.
  • Productivity - Meets productivity standard of 75%.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.

  • Reports any health/medical errors.
  • Observes all Environment of Care policies and reports safety risks or hazards immediately.

Qualified candidates must:

  • Have a Masters Degree in relevant field of psychology, counseling, or social work
  • Be independently licensed as an LP, LICSW, LMFT or LPCC. Three (3) years post licensure preferred.
  • Declared competency with licensing board in relevant areas of practice.
  • Have experience working with children; DC:0-5 preferred
