Your Contribution
  • Review blueprints, CAD files, SolidWorks models, and their associated specifications.
  • Set-up and operate various tools including, but not limited to CNC mills, lathes, EDM, and grinders to cut and shape materials like metal and plastic.
  • Assemble, fit, shim, and adjust tools dies, and parts to meet precise specifications.
  • Measure completed products using calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators to ensure conformance to strict tolerances.
    • Perform 100% inspection of ALL active molds
    • Define critical characteristics & tolerances o Update "Mold" repair log for future reference and traceability.
  • Repair or modify existing tools, dies, and machinery. Welding, grinding, and polishing may be required.
    • Set up a preventative / predictive maintenance program with inspection intervals.
    • Outcomes would be acceptance/rejection criteria for maximizing mold utilization (lifecycles)
  • Create jigs, gauges, fixtures, and cutting tools.
  • Using Excel/Access programs, link Mold ID# to yield, defects, and downtime.
  • Work with Melting process engineers to implement onto production floor.
  • Attend weekly SFO mold meetings > 90% of the time.
  • Lead weekly mold "cycling" meeting with a 2-4 week lookahead.
  • Drive knowledge transfer from Southbridge to Duryea team.
  • Create Job Instructions and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Develop plans for Duryea to become 100% independent from Southbridge.
  • Organize Mold Shop to 5s standards.
  • Order all department tools, materials, and repairs using SAP.
Your Profile
  • A.S. of Tool/Die/Machinist degree from technical / vocational school + 2 years of experience. OR
  • Formalized Apprenticeship certificate training + 4 years of experience. OR * Highschool Diploma / GED + 5-6 years of experience.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of using CAD/CAM software, blue print reading, and mathematics (geometry/trigonometry)
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of handling complex, high-precision metalworking machinery
  • MIG, TIG, and Stick welding skills (preferred)
  • English, MS Office
