Main Duties & Responsibilities
Position Summary:
The Material Handler supports
manufacturing operations by ensuring the accurate handling, movement, and
control of all production materials, including resins and colorants. This role
manages inventory within the ERP system, delivers materials to production
equipment, verifies proper usage, and supports material changeovers and
cleanups. Responsibilities also include moving bulk materials, managing
injection mold storage and retrieval, and assisting with incoming shipments and
internal material transport.
This role is for 3rd Shift, Sunday-Thursday with hours of 11:30pm-8:00am. This role is required to be on-site 5-6 days at the Clinton Township, MI location.
Responsibilities:
- Uphold and communicate the purpose, principles, and vision of TriMas
- Complete training required for the position
- Proper set-up of the resin handling equipment (dryers, injection molding machines, hoppers).
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment
- Fill hoppers with material using a ladder and bucket and/or automatic feeder to ensure continuous production of all production running Injection Molding Machines, which include the monitoring of the dryers making sure that these don't run out of resin, cleaning or replacing the filters in the dryers, and logging all resin used or loaded into dryers.
- Complete required paperwork (dryer slips, labels, material receipts, C of C's) and any necessary documentation in an accurate and timely manner.
- Collection and weight of all purges when these are
ready to be moved. - Utilize fork truck and manual conveyance systems to maintain proper control of direct materials from incoming, in process, and warehouse locations.
- Issue and return resin and molds to proper rack locations and record properly in ERP system.
- Maintain control of injection molds in proper staging area; pre-stage at press and return from return storage area.
- Awareness of regulatory and customer requirements as it pertains to Omega's clients; especially for Omega's medical clients (ref. ISO13485).
- Helps maintain cleanliness of shop facility, including clean room
- Other tasks assigned by immediate supervisor and/or
manager.
Essential Functions:
Work
performed in an office and manufacturing plant environment. Normal mobility to
move around an office environment, able to conduct normal amounts of work at a
computer. Frequently exposed to varying temperatures within plant depending
upon external weather conditions. Frequently walks, stands, grips/grasps,
bends/stoops, crouches, and lifts and carries up to fifty-five (55) pounds
routinely throughout the day.

Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- 1 year of experience in a plastic injection molding environment
- Forklift experience certificate (we will train internally for certification)
- Ability to lift 55 (fifty-five) pounds repeatedly during the day.
Compensation:
The expected pay range for this position is $18.00-$20.00/hour. This shift qualifies for a shift premium.
