Specializing in precision machining and metal fabrication, our Sanmina Newark, California facility has 15 years' experience in both precision and large format solutions for industrial, semiconductor, clean technology and oil & gas markets.We provide comprehensive engineering and test capabilities: from in-house and hydrostatic leak-testing of medium and large format vacuum chambers to machining of precision stainless steel mechanisms. We have the capacity to machine components up to 3 meters.Our metal fabrication services include grinding, vacuum welding, heat treating, plating and anodizing. We can process many advanced materials, including aluminum, stainless steel, plastics, ferrous-nonferrous and other exotic alloys.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

As a Mechanical Metrology Engineer, you will serve as the primary expert in precision measurement, dimensional analysis, and advanced inspection technologies. You will drive operational excellence by developing and implementing sophisticated metrology solutions for complex machining operations. The ideal candidate is a high-level technical resource capable of performing deep-dive dimensional analysis and leveraging advanced metrology tools to ensure that high-technology products meet or exceed customer quality requirements.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITES:



  • Lead advanced CMM programming (e.g., MCOSMOS, PC-DMIS) and operation to verify complex geometric tolerances on high-precision components.
  • Perform complex dimensional metrology and GD&T analysis to ensure complete alignment with customer engineering specifications and drawings. This includes, developing and implementing inspection processes for precision CNC machined parts used in the semiconductor and aerospace industries.
  • Oversee site calibration management and ensure the traceability and accuracy of all precision measurement instruments.
  • Direct Measurement System Analysis (MSA) and Gage R&R studies to validate the capability and stability of inspection processes.
  • Design and implement new, innovative inspection methods and custom gauging for complex geometric features that traditional tools cannot capture.
  • Utilize statistical tools (SPC, DOE) to analyze measurement data and provide technical feedback for manufacturing process optimization.
  • Collaborate with engineering during Design for Manufacturability (DFM) reviews to provide metrology-based feasibility assessments.
  • Support root cause analysis for dimensional non-conformances and drive technical corrective actions for measurement-related issues.


EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:



  • CMM Programming: MCOSMOS, PC-DMIS
  • Should be proficient at inspecting parts using surface plates, micrometer, height gauge, ECT.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering field, related technical field, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in programing CMMs, and performing inspection of parts for the semiconductor and aerospace industry
  • Ability to participate in the resolution of technical issues with respect to product processes, systems and deliverables in engineering, supply chain and quality
  • Proficient in 5S, Lean, and Six Sigma methodologies
  • Proficient in Excel

Salary Range (annual): $95,000 - $120,000. Actual base pay within this range (determined at the offer stage) will be based on a candidate's years of relevant work experience, education, certifications, and skills, and is just one element of our total rewards package. The total rewards package also includes a variety of benefits, including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business and, depending on the role, may include eligibility for restricted stock unit awards and participation in a discretionary bonus program.
