Job Summary

The Class A CDL Driver is responsible for safely transporting fire sprinkler pipe and related materials to customer and construction sites within a delivery radius of up to five hours from the branch location. This role primarily focuses on driving and delivery activities while supporting warehouse operations as needed, including staging orders, loading trucks, and unloading deliveries. The ideal candidate demonstrates a strong commitment to safety, exceptional customer service, and dependable performance.

Job Responsibilities



  • Operate Class A commercial vehicles, including single-axle flatbeds, tandem-axle flatbeds, and automatic 48-foot tractor trailers.
  • Deliver fire sprinkler pipe, fittings, and related materials according to scheduled delivery timelines.
  • Validate delivery routes and directions to ensure timely and accurate deliveries.
  • Ensure materials are properly secured and transported within legal weight limits.
  • Unload or assist in unloading materials as required at delivery locations.
  • Obtain customer signatures and maintain accurate delivery documentation.
  • Communicate with supervisors throughout the day regarding delivery status, issues, and updates.
  • Pick up customer returns and verify materials match return documentation.
  • Pick up local purchase orders and return packing lists and delivery documentation.
  • Verify that all materials have been unloaded and placed at the designated delivery site.
  • Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report any defects, accidents, violations, or maintenance concerns.
  • Fuel vehicles as necessary and maintain vehicle cleanliness and readiness.
  • Assist with warehouse operations, including staging orders, loading trucks, and unloading incoming deliveries.
  • Represent the organization professionally and provide exceptional customer service at all times.
  • Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
  • Support operational initiatives and perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Work overtime as needed to support business requirements.


Job Requirements



  • Minimum of one year of experience operating Class A commercial vehicles required.
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required.
  • Must have held a CDL for a minimum of one year.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must maintain the required state-issued self-certification designation of non-excepted interstate and provide proof of certification.
  • Experience operating flatbed trucks and tractor trailers preferred.
  • Forklift experience preferred.
  • Moffett forklift experience preferred.
  • Ability to safely load, secure, and transport materials.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Basic smartphone proficiency required.
  • Prompt, dependable, and able to work independently.
  • Ability to perform warehouse duties and physical tasks associated with material handling.
  • Ability to comply with all DOT regulations and company safety standards.
