Automation Delivery

The Automation Delivery is responsible for the delivery of the design, construction and support of cutting-edge data center automation and control infrastructure. The department collaborates with Sales, Design Engineering, Information Technology, Operational Technology, Procurement, New Site Development, Construction, Billing, Operations and Management to ensure the system continues to fulfill Vantage customer requirements. Automation Systems works closely with partner contractors to ensure the site specific the best design and helps manage these partners to success by providing accurate requirements, goals, and timelines. In addition to design and construction, we are also responsible for assuring the technical requirements of the Operations department are met.

Position Overview

This position is onsite in Shackelford County, TX.

Vantage is looking for an experienced and detailed orientated Senior Technical Project Manager to support and facilitate the successful completion of projects for the Automation Systems group. Individual will be a key contributor in facilitating cross-functional alignment with key project stakeholders for regionally assigned new and existing automation projects.

As a key contributor the position will manage and provide technical leadership regarding automation design, engineering, and construction interfacing. The ability to influence and foster consensus across teams at a regional level is critical to be successful in this role. A high-level understanding of system integration, project management, commissioning, and process execution is required to provide insightful project issue mitigation when challenges arise.

  • Primary Automation Systems team design and engineering interfacing resource.

  • Support pre-bid planning, coordination, and execution strategies to ensure quality design and engineering deliverables.

  • Support internal Innovation and Design Engineers teams to ensure standards and design engineering initiatives are adhered to throughout the automation design process.

  • Leads automation project design activities, which includes partnerships and collaboration with:

  • (EOR) Engineer of record and Design Systems Integration teams.

  • Automation construction teams regarding automation scope of work development, automation design deliverables, and factory acceptance testing.

  • Support Sales, Design Engineering, and Services to develop project requirements based on market demands or customer requirements.

  • Provide technical leadership regarding automation issue mitigation to support delivery and commissioning schedules throughout the project lifecycle.

Essential Job Functions

  • Leads automation design and engineering projects that align with business vision, strategy, and deployment within the company.

  • Assist in the definition of automation project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility.

  • Manage multiple automation technical project scopes, schedules, and stakeholder relations across the regions.

  • Drive all aspects of automation activities related to new and existing project development through each of the design, engineering and construction phases.

  • Manage automation technical responsibilities with the Engineer of Record and Design and Controls Systems Integrators.

  • Manage automation design deliverable package coordination and updates with all applicable automation construction partners.

  • Ensure adherence to the North American standards by the Engineer of Records and Design Systems Integrator.

  • Provide automation system technical oversight and issue mitigation throughout design, engineering, and commissioning activities.

  • Coordinate and support applicable FWT (Factory Witness Tests), and software bench testing and on-site point to for various projects.

  • Provide remote or onsite project and vendor support ensuring a successful design and engineering delivery.

  • Manage automation design, engineering, and programming/software deliverables (Specifications, IFC's, SOO's, PLC, SCADA, etc..), ensuring critical delivery milestones are maintained and in alignment with the master construction schedule. Provide and implement automation technical quality and accuracy control measure for projects.

  • Lead and participate in weekly and/or daily automation engineering meetings for each applicable regional project.

Duties

  • Lead regional Automation project design, engineering, and programming/software delivery.

  • Support in developing and managing automation design, and engineering strategies.

  • Develop technical task prioritization and scheduling for allocating resources and project timelines.

  • Support and coordinate automation design and engineering requirements with internal and external partners.

  • Evaluates progress on project(s) and tracks changes to schedule.

  • Develops and maintains standard communication and technical documentation for Automation aspects of project implementation (RFIs, Transmittals, Submittals, Change Requests, Project Plans, Status Updates, etc.)

  • Additional duties as assigned by manager

Job Requirements

  • 6-7+ years of experience in Building Management System (BMS) design, integration, commissioning, or technical leadership.

  • BS in related Engineering or Construction Management fields preferred but not required based upon experience level.

  • Ability to interpret construction plans, drawings, sketches and specifications.

  • PLC / SCADA Application Engineering experience preferred.

  • Allen-Bradley and Ignition experience highly preferred.

  • 6-7+ years Data Center or Mission Critical project experience preferred.

  • Proven success in project management with PMP certification preferred, but not required.

  • Experience in instrumentation and controls (I&C) preferred.

  • Experience with Procore and CxAlloy preferred.

  • Proficiency with MS Project, MS Office, and MS SharePoint

  • Travel required is expected to be 25% but may increase over time as the business evolves.
