Job Summary This position assists the manager with the daily operations of the Veterans Services Office, providing comprehensive, wrap-around support services to military-connected and veteran students. It ensures compliance with federal and state regulations by serving as a School Certifying Official (SCO) and coordinating the accurate certification of enrollment to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Department of Defense (DoD), and Veterans Readiness and Employment (VR&E). The role provides comprehensive student support through a case management approach, facilitating student enrollment, first-year advisement, retention, completion, engagement, and satisfactory academic progress. It also includes coordinating cross-college training, collaborating with faculty and staff to support integrated retention efforts, and serving as a liaison between students, campus resources, and external agencies. Additionally, the position assists the manager in overseeing the workload of the part-time VA Work-Study staff. Essential Functions 30%- Oversees the daily operations and workflow of the Veterans Services Office, providing comprehensive, wrap around support services to military-connected and veteran student populations. Provides information and technical assistance regarding academic program guidelines, requirements, eligibility, and application as prescribed by federal legislation and policy surrounding school administration of Veterans benefits. Ensures compliance with federal and state regulations by serving as the primary School Certifying Official (SCO) and coordinating accurate certification of enrollment to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Department of Defense (DoD), and Veterans Readiness and Employment (VR&E) through the Department of Veteran's Affairs Enrollment Management (EM) system and other applicable platforms and portals. 20% Prepares reports and manages databases tracking student enrollment, retention, completion, and satisfactory academic progress to ensure compliance with federal regulations. Monitors student outcomes and submits required federal reports to maintain compliance standards. Identifies potential academic and personal barriers impacting military-connected students and researches appropriate resources to support this high-risk population. Serves as a liaison between students, campus programs and services, and external military-affiliated resources, ensuring coordinated support for student success. 20% Coordinates projects, events, orientations and other engagement activities aimed at promoting retention and success for military-connected students. Supports the development and delivery of military cultural training for faculty and staff to ensure continued compliance with Arizona Veterans Supportive Campus requirements. Assists the manager in the hiring and training of Veterans Affairs work study students in front line services for military connected students. 20% Working through a case management model, advises students, parents, college staff and community members on policies, procedures, and processes related to multiple functional areas including admissions, advising, assessment, registration, student success, veterans' services, and financial aid. 10% Process department requisitions, order office supplies, and other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution and two years of student services or college experience, or experience coordinating, administering, planning, or evaluating programs. OR An equivalent combination of education, experience and/or military service sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation Desired Qualifications 1) Veteran, military-connected, or experience supporting military-affiliated populations 2) Experience in compliance-driven environments, ensuring adherence to regulatory, reporting, and audit requirements. 3) Experience coordinating programs and student engagement initiatives with a strong customer service focus to support retention. 4) Technically proficient with the ability to navigate and manage multiple platforms, databases, and systems efficiently. 5) One year of full-time, relevant MCCCD experience within the previous two years. Experience within other community college systems or higher education institutions is valued and may be considered in addition to MCCCD experience. External candidates are encouraged to apply.
