Chromalloy is seeking a Senior Director, Portfolio Strategy & Opportunity Development to build and lead a newly created organization responsible for identifying, evaluating, and incubating new growth opportunities across our Engine Parts business.

Reporting directly to the EVP, Engine Parts, this leader will serve as the front end of our innovation and investment process-transforming ideas into validated, investment-ready opportunities. Working across Business Development, Product Management, Engineering, Operations, and site leadership, the team will assess market attractiveness, commercial viability, technical feasibility, operational requirements, and financial returns to determine where Chromalloy should invest its resources.

This role is not a traditional corporate strategy position. Success will come from developing deep market insights, engaging customers and industry stakeholders, identifying unmet needs, building compelling business cases, and helping create the next generation of growth opportunities for the company.

The ideal candidate is an entrepreneurial builder who thrives in ambiguity, enjoys solving complex problems, and has the curiosity and industry credibility to uncover opportunities others miss.

Key Responsibilities

Opportunity Identification & Incubation

  • Lead the identification, evaluation, and prioritization of new growth opportunities across products, services, manufacturing capabilities, strategic partnerships, and business models.
  • Develop and manage a robust pipeline of opportunities from concept through Gate 0 readiness.
  • Transform early-stage concepts into actionable business recommendations supported by market, technical, operational, and financial analyses.
  • Establish a repeatable process for opportunity incubation and portfolio development.

Market & Customer Intelligence

  • Analyze aerospace aftermarket trends, fleet dynamics, customer needs, competitive activity, and market white spaces.
  • Engage directly with operators, airlines, MROs, leasing companies, suppliers, distributors, and other industry stakeholders to validate opportunities and assumptions.
  • Identify emerging market needs and customer challenges that can be addressed through innovative products, services, and solutions.
  • Assess customer adoption potential and commercialization pathways for new offerings.

Strategic Portfolio Management

  • Lead portfolio reviews and opportunity prioritization processes.
  • Develop strategic roadmaps for products, technologies, capabilities, and growth initiatives.
  • Provide recommendations to executive leadership regarding investment priorities, resource allocation, and portfolio tradeoffs.
  • Support long-range planning and capital investment decisions with data-driven insights and recommendations.

Business Case Development

  • Develop rigorous business cases that evaluate market demand, competitive positioning, financial returns, technical feasibility, manufacturing implications, regulatory considerations, and execution risks.
  • Assess sourcing strategies and pathways needed to support product and service development efforts.
  • Present recommendations and investment cases to senior leadership for decision making.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Coordinate closely with Business Development, Product Management, Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, and PMO teams.
  • Ensure validated opportunities are transitioned effectively into formal development processes and project execution organizations.
  • Build strong relationships across the organization and serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership.

Team Leadership

  • Build and lead a lean, high-performing team of analysts and program managers.
  • Establish operating rhythms, governance processes, and portfolio management tools.
  • Foster a culture of curiosity, accountability, speed, collaboration, and analytical rigor.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Economics, Finance, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in aerospace, aviation, industrial technology, or a related industry.
  • Experience in product strategy, portfolio management, growth strategy, business development, product management, or new business development.
  • Demonstrated success evaluating and developing new growth opportunities.
  • Strong business case development, financial analysis, and strategic planning capabilities.
  • Experience influencing decisions across commercial, technical, and operational organizations.
  • Excellent executive communication and presentation skills.

Preferred

  • MBA or advanced technical degree.
  • Experience within the aerospace aftermarket.
  • Familiarity with aerospace product development, certification, manufacturing, and commercialization processes.
  • Experience building new teams, functions, or operating models.
