Histology Assistant

Inova Central Lab is looking for a dedicated Histology Assistant to join their team! We are looking for someone with an interest in learning and growing within the laboratory who thrives in a fast-paced work environment. This role is focused on receiving and processing tissue specimens in an accurate and timely manner.

This position has Fulltime, Part-time, Nights, Evenings and Days with several shifts available: FT/Mon-Fri, 5am-1:30pm, Mon-Fri, 6am-2:30pm, Mon-Fri, 2:00pm-10:30pm, Mon-Fri, 1pm-9:30pm, Mon-Fri 8pm- 4:30am, (Wed-Sat, 4pm-12:30am 32 hours). Part-time Mon, Wed, Fri, 7am-3:30pm 24 hours).

Histology Assistant Job Responsibilities:




  • Obtains and processes pathology specimens maintaining positive specimen identification, assisting histology technicians, and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure the quality preparation of all specimens


  • Performs all clerical and computer tasks necessary to support the quality operation of the department.


  • Performs frozen section staining, coverslip and appropriately label slides to aid in diagnostic evaluation.


  • Communicates to maintain team knowledge, demonstrates knowledge of regulatory standards in order to satisfy compliance requirements, and participates in professional growth opportunities to enhance personal, team, and department development.


  • Other duties as assigned.



Minimum Qualifications:




  • Education: High School diploma or GED equivalent.


  • Years of Experience: No experience required



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Prior experience in a Histology laboratory or the desire to work in the Histology field.
