RBMI Inspector

Rubicon is seeking an RBMI Inspector supporting the Polyurethanes Division located in Geismar. This position will report to the Asset Health Superintendent.

Job Scope

The RBMI Inspector is responsible for the inspection, evaluation, and documentation of pressure vessels, piping systems, storage tanks, and associated equipment in accordance with applicable API Codes (API 510, API 570, and API 653) and site procedures.

The inspector ensures the mechanical integrity of fixed equipment through scheduled inspections, fitness-for-service evaluations, and the identification of damage mechanisms. This role serves as a key technical resource for Maintenance and Operations by providing recommendations to maintain the safe and reliable operation of plant assets.

The position supports both routine inspection programs and unit outages, ensuring all inspections are conducted in compliance with industry standards and internal procedures.

In Summary, as the RBMI Inspector, You Will:
  • Perform inspections, evaluations, and documentation of pressure vessels, piping systems, storage tanks, and associated equipment.
  • Support fixed-interval and Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) programs.
  • Conduct routine field inspections and provide turnaround and outage support.
  • Inspect new and repaired equipment and verify compliance with applicable standards.
  • Document and report inspection findings accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Evaluate inspection data to determine equipment condition and remaining service life.
  • Identify active and potential damage mechanisms affecting equipment.
  • Recommend appropriate inspection techniques, repair strategies, and mitigation plans.
  • Assess fitness for service and determine whether equipment is suitable for continued operation.
  • Work closely with Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, and NDE vendors to coordinate inspection activities and corrective actions.
  • Ensure all inspections are performed safely and in compliance with site and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain inspection records and ensure data is properly entered into applicable systems.
  • Support turnaround planning and execution activities.
  • Provide input into RBI programs, inspection intervals, and equipment integrity strategies.
Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus.

The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Rubicon in the United States.

Minimum Qualifications
  • API 510 Certification (Pressure Vessels).
  • API 570 Certification (Piping).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in inspection, maintenance, or plant operations.
  • Strong understanding of damage mechanisms in accordance with API 571.
  • Knowledge of inspection techniques, including UT, VT, RT, PT, MT, and related methods.
  • Ability to interpret inspection data and evaluate equipment condition.
  • Familiarity with corrosion monitoring systems and programs.
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, isometric drawings, and mechanical drawings.
  • Strong knowledge of plant maintenance and safety procedures.
  • Experience with PCMS or equivalent inspection data management systems.
  • Experience with SAP or equivalent maintenance management systems.

Preferred Qualifications
  • API 653 Certification (Storage Tanks).
  • Experience with Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) programs.
  • Experience supporting turnarounds and outage activities.
  • Knowledge of fitness-for-service assessment methodologies.
  • Previous experience working in industrial manufacturing or chemical processing facilities.
Working Environment
  • Frequent field work in operating units.
  • Climbing ladders, scaffolding, and elevated structures.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 40 lbs.
  • Exposure to outdoor conditions, heat, and industrial environments.
  • Ability to work independently in field environments while maintaining a strong commitment to safety and job performance.
