Title: Quality Assurance Technician

Location: Remote/Virtual - Must work and Live in the state of Michigan



Purpose: This full-time position is based in Lansing, eligible for hybrid work schedule and works with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, Lead Certification and Compliance Assurance Section (LCCA), Quality Assurance Unit (QAU). This position serves as Departmental Technician for the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, Quality Assurance Unit (QAU), LCCA section. This position requires an individual who can work well within diverse demographics under short timelines and open to work with the variety of quality assurance (QA) projects. This position requires an individual who is detailed, efficient and works well with the public and internal staff to support the work of the QAU. This position will involve working on specific projects that include range of activities such as collection, analysis, and management of data for a grant project, processing in MS Excel, content research for a SharePoint site, member database management and such.



Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Effectively handle various tasks pertaining to specific projects assigned by the QAU Manager.
  • Support the data entry, collection, and management of database work as assigned by the QAU manager while working on various projects.
  • Prepare clear, concise, and accurate reports.
  • Review, understand, interpret, and process data using MS Excel.
  • Effectively communicate on technical subjects both verbally and written, in technical and lay language.
  • Work well as a team member, is self-motivated, and maintains a high level of integrity in working with colleagues and the public.
  • Work on variety of assigned tasks with effective time management.
  • Ability to make independent decisions on work priorities with minimal supervision.
  • Represent the State in managing verbal and written inquiries and other communications, while being compliant with the Department's policies regarding properly conducting oneself with respect to confidential handling of external applicant data and internal QA data.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, specifically MS Excel and familiar with email and Internet.
  • Willingness and ability to undergo training and to work with the specific software used by the QAU.
  • Always represent the best interest of MPHI and MDHHS.
  • All other duties as assigned.



Qualifications/Requirements:

Education: High School diploma or equivalent is required.

Experience: No experience required.

Important Skills and Characteristics:



  • Knowledge of organizations, workflow, staffing, forms, and procedures.
  • Preferred ability to use MS Excel and its functions on a routine basis.
  • Ability to analyze data using MS Excel and operations and make recommendations for change.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Knowledge of rules, regulations, policies, procedures, precedents, and terminology used in work.
  • Knowledge of technique of using reference materials and organizing data for reports.
  • Knowledge of techniques of interviewing and obtaining information.
  • Ability to maintain favorable public relations.
  • Ability to extract and process data, relevant information and present significant facts pertaining to a specific project.
  • Willingness and ability to undergo training and to work with the specific software used by the QAU.
  • Ability to adapt to changes with a progressive mind set during development and implementation of new projects and initiatives.



Work Environment and Physical Requirements: Standard office environment. Job may require moderate physical effort such as lifting or transporting a laptop computer and educational material to presentations. Involves significant computer related activity including keyboarding and viewing a computer screen, in addition to communication by telephone. Occasional travel to other areas of the state to participate in meetings, informational exchanges or make presentations.

IMPACT ON PROJECTS, SERVICES AND OPERATIONS: This position has a direct impact on the quality of services provided by MPHI to MDHHS. This position is responsible to perform the duties and responsibilities that support efficient functioning of the QAU for QA data collection, validation, reporting using MS Excel including other projects handled by the QA unit. This position while performing the assigned duties will be responsible to effectively communicate, able to organize and report the information received from external and internal sources. This position upon adequate training should be comfortable to work with the specific software used by the QAU to perform QA related assignments.
