Who we are looking for:

We are looking for an experienced Supply Planner for our Cable Management & Framing team to play an essential role in the supply chain of our company using analytical, marketing, and sales data to effectively estimate future product demand, plan inventory flow, analyze statistical data, and generate accurate forecasts.

Reporting to the Sr Manager - Supply Planning, the Supply Planner's primary role will include forecasting and supply planning for our Harvey, IL and Hobart, IN manufacturing plants as well as several regional service centers. A successful candidate will have in-depth knowledge of forecasting models and a high aptitude for creating advanced planning tools. This role will have an inside track on future roles of increased responsibility within Atkore. This role will be based at our Harvey, IL headquarters.

What you'll do:



  • Manage monthly SIOP forecast / supply consensus process; drive SIOP process improvements to reduce forecast error.
  • Develop and deliver accurate monthly production schedules to plant management.
  • Supply production forecasts to the supply chain teams ensuring raw material deliveries are aligned to plant production schedules.
  • Daily, Weekly and Monthly tracking of delivery metrics to ensure strong customer service.
  • Manage inventory levels to achieve working capital goals and reduce overall inventory levels.
  • Work closely with customer service and sales teams to plan and win large project-based orders.
  • Continuously looking for lean opportunities to improve current toolset and streamlining processes.
  • Creating standard work documents for procedures and responsibilities
  • Identify opportunities to meet customer demand during constrained supply.
  • Work with partners in sales, brand, supply chain, and finance to obtain consistent forecast inputs.
  • Identify and manage excess & obsolete product.


What you'll bring:



  • Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, or other relevant fields or 5-8 years relevant working experience as an equivalency.
  • 3 or more years of experience in Sales Inventory Operations Planning (SIOP), Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing Inventory Management, preferably in a manufacturing setting - Electrical or Mechanical Industries preferred.
  • Proven experience in creating Excel/Database files is required with advanced knowledge in SQL / PowerBI preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and comfortably with all organizational levels.
  • APICS certification and Six Sigma/Lean Principles knowledge preferred.
  • Ability to react appropriately to changing priorities and impending deadlines.
  • Experience using an MRP system such as JD Edwards, or SAP
  • Position will require frequent communication with production partners and occasional visits to areas in which designated PPE will be required.
  • Demonstrated skills in implementing and using formal continuous process improvement techniques.
  • Proven ability to identify areas for improvement for lean advancement and champion change.
  • 5% travel may be required.

Within 6 months, you'll:



  • Deepen understanding of processes and tools
  • Work towards established performance and development goals
  • Identify opportunities for improvement


Within 12 months, you'll:



  • Fully own your processes and tools
  • Troubleshoot issues and work towards effective and efficient resolution; fully support stakeholders as needed
  • Drive results and achieve established goals
  • Action improvements

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay for this position is $64,960 - $89,320. Placement in the range depends on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, relevant experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs and may change over time. Other compensation may include, but not limited to, overtime, shift differentials, bonuses, commissions, stock, and other incentives.
