Summary
Responsible for providing direct patient care and therapeutic support to individuals receiving behavioral health services. The Psychiatric Counselor II delivers structured interventions, facilitates psycho educational groups, and supports the treatment plan under the supervision of licensed clinical staff. This role plays a key part in fostering a safe, therapeutic, and recovery-focused environment. Does this position require Patient Care? Yes
Essential Functions
Provide supportive counseling, behavioral interventions, and crisis de-escalation to patients in individual and group settings.
-Implement treatment plans developed by licensed clinicians and document patient progress.
-Facilitate psycho educational or skill-building groups focused on mental health, coping, and recovery.
-Monitor patient safety, emotional status, and behavior, reporting concerns to the clinical team.
-Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to care planning discussions.
-Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with organizational and regulatory standards.
-Assist with patient admissions, discharges, and transitions in coordination with care teams.
-Promote a recovery-oriented, trauma-informed, and culturally sensitive approach to care.
-Adhere to ethical standards and patient confidentiality at all times.

Education
Bachelor's Degree Social Work required and Bachelor's Degree Psychology required and Bachelor's Degree Counseling required and Bachelor's Degree Related Field of Study required or Master's Degree Related Field of Study preferred

Licenses and Credentials

Experience
Experience providing behavioral health or social services in a clinical or residential setting 2-3 years required and Experience working with diverse populations and mental health conditions 2-3 years required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Solid understanding of behavioral health principles and patient-centered care.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build therapeutic rapport.
- Proficiency in group facilitation, documentation, and crisis intervention.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary care environment.
- Commitment to safety, empathy, and respect in all patient interactions.
