How will you power what's possible? Job Summary
The Vice President, Tax will lead the overall development and execution of global tax activities in support of the company's objectives. In this leadership role, they will be responsible for all tax functions to include but not limited to global income tax planning, payments and compliance, sales and provincial sales, use, property, tax audit, and strategy. The ideal leader has operated successfully at a global level, having a desire to develop, mentor and coach a tax team. A highly visible role, including interaction with the executive team and board, the VP will work closely with finance and business leaders to develop tax planning initiatives, to identify potential tax issues and to recommend solutions. The position requires a senior level financial leader with not only tax experience, but a professional who has exceptional strategic and conceptual capabilities, sound business acumen, and a collaborative style. The ideal candidate will manage a wide range of responsibilities and provide guidance and support to ensure the integrity and operational effectiveness of the tax function. Key results Tax activities comply with accounting and tax guidelines, regulatory requirements, company policies and internal controls. Builds high-performing team of tax professionals by managing deliverables, setting expectations, providing ongoing performance feedback, creating opportunities and developing goals. Provides timely financial, risk and operational updates to leadership and the audit committee on the company's tax situation including effective tax rate projections, cash tax projections, and legislative developments. Drive transformation of the tax function to scale for growth which includes team development, process improvement and implementation, and effective use of data and technology. Qualifications Strong academic credentials including a bachelor's degree in accounting or tax. Master's Degree and / or law degree preferred. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required. Fifteen years of progressive corporate tax experience within a multi-billion-dollar organization required. Prior experience in a big 4 tax strongly preferred. Experience with S-Corp, C-Corp and LLC's. Demonstrates a conceptual and business-oriented approach to communicating taxes and tax planning and be able to effectively communicate and influence non-tax business leaders Strategic thinker with strong leadership, organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills with a rigorous decision-making process. Agility in response to ambiguous situations, new information and unexpected circumstances Demonstrated ability to interpret and strategically apply government laws, regulations, providing guidance to all levels of the business. Excellent written and oral communication skills, presentation skills, and the ability to convey tax concepts to global audiences. Ability to publicly represent company with internal and external clients in sensitive and highly visible circumstances requiring outstanding communication and presentation skills. Experience in attracting, developing, mentoring and driving a high performing team. Excellent business acumen with the ability to influence and collaborate with senior level leaders across organizational lines. Earns the respect of peers, subordinates and superiors for their integrity, ethics, and ability to set a standard in leadership. Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Power BI, ), advanced knowledge and experience with Corptax income tax return modules, including international module. Proficient with Thomson Reuters and BNP tax research platforms. SAP experience a plus. Certified Professional Accountant (CPA) required Preferred Education & Experience
