For more information about the company and product line visit: www.sigsauer.com Position Summary: The Range Safety Officer I is responsible for day-to-day range safety and operations at the range counter, full auto rental, opening and closing of range, stocking ammo and targets, and maintaining cleanliness of range counter and ranges, enforcing SOPs for customers, employees, and facility safety. This is an entry-level position that requires some knowledge of firearm safety (from LE/MIL/or civilian training), some experience with retail sales, and completion of the RSO 1 certification. This position will be heavily team-dependent to ensure safety and customer experience are met. The Range Safety Officer I will collaborate with the Sales and the Events team for support and will report to the SEC Range Master. FLSA: Non-exempt Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Enforce SOPs as prescribed to prevent injury and/or range damage.
- Day-to-day range check in, firearm rental, reservation management, waitlist management, product knowledge, and Armorer tasks relevant to certification.
- Assist with set up and tear down of indoor matches and leagues.
- May assist with basic events such as customer parties and other small private events.
- Make small corrections for safety on range but may not deep dive into the topic with the customer due to responsibility for the entire range.
- Make SOP improvement suggestions to Range Master.
- Communicate effectively to supervision regarding problems and corrective action.
- Engage in Continuous Improvement projects/tasks.
- Participate in and sustain 5S Standards.
- Must follow all required Safety and ISO procedures.
- Regular on-site attendance and punctuality is a necessary function of this position.
- May be required to work in other functional areas and/or facilities depending on business needs.
- May be required to work overtime or alternate shifts based on business needs.
- Miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Education/Experience & Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent; or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Typically requires 0+ years of experience.
- Trauma Management, SIG First Responder, Mental Health Awareness Training, P320 Armorer, P365 Armorer, M400 Armorer Emergency Response Training, and RSO 1 course required.
- Must have a basic understanding of firearm safety as established by required training to be enforced with general public on shooting range as well as emergency response training.
- Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word) as well as ability to operate POS system for basic transactions required.
- Must be able to clearly, concisely, and accurately convey ideas and information to others, both verbally and in written form.
- Must be able to complete tasks as assigned in a timely manner and require little to no supervision to identify additional tasks.
Working Conditions:
- Work is primarily standing (90 + % of the shift) except for breaks and lunch periods.
- The duties of this position typically require exposure to a shooting range where frequent standing, kneeling, running, sitting, crouching, crawling, twisting, grasping and walking can be expected along with frequent lifting up to 40 pounds and/or moving of equipment cases and materials up to 100 pounds.
- Must be able to reach with hands and arms, bend and kneel frequently at a minimum 50% of the shift, as well as undergo repetitive wrist, hand, elbow, shoulder, and ankle motions.
- Must demonstrate proficient fine motor skills, be able to grip, reach, pull, and turn.
- Specific vision abilities required may include close vision, distance vision, peripheral and depth perception and ability to focus.
- Assignments will require exposure to varying climate and environmental conditions both extreme cold and warm weather conditions for extended periods of time.
- Exposure to a variety of firearms and other weapons, related chemicals, gun cleaning solvents, ammunition and explosive materials, ammunition smoke and hand and power tools related to weapon and range repairs; additional information is available from EHS upon request.
- Work includes exposure to extreme noise of firearms, requiring the use of ear protection equipment. Must possess mobility, vision, hearing, and dexterity levels appropriate to the duties to be performed.
- Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where required.
- Must comply with all work exposure EH&S training requirements and adhere to SIG SAUER Inc. security mandates.
