ABOUT THE ROLE

The Trailer Technician is responsible for performing preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs on trailers to ensure safe, reliable, and DOT-compliant operation. This role supports daily fleet readiness by completing work orders, identifying mechanical issues, and performing tire, brake, and structural repairs as needed. The technician works closely with production and maintenance teams to ensure equipment availability and safety standards are consistently met.

WHAT YOU'LL DO



  • Perform preventive maintenance (PMs) on trailers and equipment in coordination with production schedules
  • Complete all assigned work orders in a timely and accurate manner
  • Inspect, repair, and replace tires on trailers and related equipment as needed
  • Ensure all trailers meet DOT compliance standards through regular inspections and corrective actions
  • Identify and report additional maintenance or safety concerns to support overall fleet reliability


WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We're looking for a dependable, safety-focused technician with strong mechanical aptitude who can accurately diagnose and repair trailer systems in a fast-paced maintenance environment. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and able to work both independently and as part of a team while maintaining high standards of quality and compliance.

IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE



  • High school diploma or GED required with above-average mechanical aptitude
  • Proven experience as a tire technician in a maintenance or fleet environment
  • Knowledge of general maintenance processes, methods, tools, and equipment of the trade
  • Working knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and automotive systems, including internal combustion engine components
  • Ability to use common tools, appliances, and precision measuring equipment such as tape measures
  • Strong manual dexterity with excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong mathematical aptitude with attention to detail and accuracy in measurements and repairs


WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS



  • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 75 lbs occasionally and frequent bending, climbing, kneeling, twisting, squatting, crawling, and repetitive hand/arm use
  • Capable of standing, walking, and moving throughout the facility for extended shifts of up to 12 hours
  • Comfortable working at heights using ladders, scaffolding, swing stages, and man lifts frequently
  • Ability to work safely in a production or field environment with moderate to high exposure to safety risks and hazards
  • Willingness to work in varying environmental conditions, including wet, hot, humid, and cold weather, and outdoors (Depending on location)
  • Ability to wear all required PPE, including but not limited to safety boots, safety glasses, hearing protection, high visibility vest, hard hat, and other PPE as required by the task, department, or work area.
