Why This Role Is Critical
As the need for nuclear energy grows, the future couldn't be brighter. Join our vital mission to create lasting solutions for our planet's greatest challenges. In this role, you are ready to shape the future of clean energy and make a long-lasting global impact. With us, anticipate engaging and challenging projects that deliver innovative solutions and value-added technologies helping power more than 38 million North American homes.
What You'll Do Day-To-Day
Design critical cast components that matter. We're looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with expertise in metallic castings to own the design of complex engineered cast components used in demanding, highly regulated applications. The Engineer must support both off-site metallic casting suppliers and an on-site machine shop through effective collaboration and communication. The Engineer is responsible for maintaining design control while also helping to evaluate nonconformances from manufacturing upsets. If you enjoy taking a component from concept through manufacturing, collaborating with suppliers, solving challenging design problems, and seeing your designs become reality, we'd love to talk.
What You'll Do * Design, improve, and develop complex metallic cast components from concept through production. * Apply engineering analysis and sound design principles to improve performance, manufacturability, and reliability. * Work closely with external foundry suppliers, manufacturing, quality, and cross-functional on-site engineering teams to bring designs to life. * Own design control activities including drawings, specifications, engineering changes, and technical documentation. * Investigate manufacturing and field issues, identify root causes, and develop robust engineering solutions. * Ensure designs comply with industry standards, customer requirements, and regulatory expectations. * Drive continuous improvement in both product design and engineering processes. * Mentor less experienced engineers and provide technical leadership on key projects. What We're Looking For We're interested in engineers who have experience with one or more of the following: * Designing metallic cast components (investment castings preferred) * Mechanical component design and detailed engineering drawing review * Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) * Working with foundries or casting suppliers * Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) * Product development from concept through production * Root cause analysis and resolving manufacturing or quality issues
