THE POSITION

As a County Caseworker 2 for Carbon County C&Y, you become a steady support for children who need guidance. You will help families find solutions and create safer environments. This work brings real change to the lives of those who need it most. Step into a role where every day matters.


DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position focuses on supporting children and families who may be facing abuse, neglect, or difficult living situations. You will help ensure that children are safe and have access to the resources they need.

As a County Caseworker 2, you will perform the following duties:

  • Safety Checks: Assess safety by meeting with children, caregivers, and others who can provide helpful information
  • Case Review: Evaluate reports of possible abuse or neglect and gather details to understand the situation
  • Family Support: Guide families toward services that encourage emotional and behavioral growth
  • Medical Referral: Recommend medical evaluation when a child shows signs of injury
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up to date documentation of contacts and services

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment.
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
    • May be required to work irregular hours depending on child/family availability.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Six months of experience as a County Caseworker 1; or
  • Successful completion of the County Social Casework Intern program; or
  • A bachelor's degree with a social welfare major; or
  • A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of professional social casework experience in a public or private social service agency; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.

Other Requirements:
  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:
  • YA conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including, but not limited to, PA State Police, Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI clearance.
