Location: Johns Hopkins Medicine, 750 E. Pratt St., 5th Floor, Baltimore, MD 21202
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM-5:00 PM
Work Arrangement: Hybrid/Remote; onsite 1-2 days/month, plus additional days for Go-Lives, weekends, and special projects. Must be located in Maryland, Virginia, Washington, DC, Pennsylvania or Delaware


Overview

Lead the design, development, and evaluation of AI/ML solutions that support clinical decision-making and healthcare operations. Partner with clinicians, engineers, researchers, and IT teams to implement and assess AI technologies.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop ML models for classification, risk prediction, NLP, and LLM applications.
  • Translate research models into production-ready solutions integrated with Epic.
  • Evaluate AI models using metrics such as F1, ROUGE, and groundedness.
  • Benchmark and assess vendor AI solutions.
  • Apply explainability and fairness techniques.
  • Support AI pilots, rollouts, and stakeholder education.
  • Present findings to clinical and technical audiences.


Required Education

  • Master's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Biomedical Informatics, or related field.
  • PhD preferred.


Required Experience

  • 7+ years of research, analytics, or data science experience.
  • 5+ years of advanced programming experience.
  • Strong Python and SQL skills.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Healthcare data experience (Epic Clarity, Caboodle, FHIR, OMOP).
  • Azure ML, Databricks, or Microsoft Fabric experience.
  • NLP and LLM experience (prompt engineering, Healthcare NLP tools).
  • Scala proficiency.
  • Experience in regulated healthcare environments.
