Goodwill of Colorado Job Description Goodwill of Colorado is an organization of over $205M in revenue with three (3) operating divisions: Community Impact, Business Services and multi-channel Retail employing over 3,200 individuals. Salary: $115,000-$135,000 per year Your total compensation goes beyond the number on your paycheck. Goodwill of Colorado provides vacation, sick time, health plans, retirement contributions and other offerings that contribute to your bottom-line compensation. Full-Time position is eligible for Medical, Dental, Vision, Short Term Disability, Life/Accidental Death and Dismemberment, Flexible Spending Accounts, Long Term Disability, and several voluntary supplemental benefit offerings. In addition, these positions are eligible for paid time off in the form of vacation, sick, holiday, floating holiday, jury duty, and bereavement leave. All employees may also make pre-tax or post-tax (Roth) contributions to our retirement plan - must be 18 years of age to participate. Schedule: Monday-Friday 8-5 PM, some nights and weekends JOB SUMMARY: The Director II, Transportation and Logistics provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for Goodwill's transportation, logistics, processing, storage, fleet management, and salvage functions. The Transportation and Logistics Director will develop and implement efficient, scalable, and data-driven logistics practices that improve service levels, productivity, safety, cost control, and revenue generation across the donated goods supply chain. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Operations Management: * Establish and measure key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive performance for on-time, in-full delivery performance, shipping costs for all forms of transit, warehouse/processing operations productivity and quality. * Manage donated product logistics, transportation processes, negotiate vehicle lease/purchase programs, and coordinate vehicle maintenance. Implements improved processes and management methods to generate higher return on investment (ROI) and workflow optimization. * Review procedures, formulating policy and developing and implementing new strategies and process improvements. * Understand, review, and work to improve all aspects of operations. * Understands the supply and demand cycle of donated goods. * Ensure that productivity, processing, storage, salvage, and distribution criteria are balanced to maximize revenue. * Ensure donated articles are protected, properly sorted, stored, distributed or disposed of, in accordance with company policies and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).[JH1.1] * Supervise the production and accurate sorting of material goods at the dock and warehouse. * Understand the salvage operation and the salvage commodities market to generate the highest revenue possible for Goodwill. * Oversee all supervisors, assigned drivers, driver helpers, and associates to include hiring, training, issuing disciplinary actions, completing and issuing performance evaluations, and termination. * Conduct safety training in a consistent and timely fashion to reduce work-related injuries and equipment failure; provide personal protective equipment and appropriate footwear as needed.[JH2.1] * Coach supervisors to use best practices to motivate staff and maintain a safe and productive work environment.[JH3.1] * Ensure adequate staffing, supplies, and tools to reach work productivity goals. * Advise and counsel subordinates on matters relating to work productivity, quality and work approach/behavior at work. * Manage supervisors to ensure proper priorities and work goals are established. *Ensure Vehicles and other equipment are maintained in optimal working order. * Analyze maintenance and repairs costs for efficiency and effectiveness. * Maintain accurate inventory of parts, ensuring orders received are correct and complete. Risk Management and Safety: * Ability to understand and follow all Goodwill safety standards and guidelines. * Participate on the Retail Risk Committee. * Ensure that proper safety procedures (per Goodwill policies and OSHA) are followed and checked. Ensure the work environment is free of safety hazards and employees are aware of risks. * Ability to maintain current knowledge of Department of Transportation and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) standards and guidelines. Implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance. Planning and Budgeting: * Forecast and prepare annual budget, review monthly financial statements, and adjust business approach to ensure business goals are met. * Report any significant matters that could affect Goodwill to the Chief Operating Officer and provide recommendations for action when appropriate. Relationship Management: * Provide leadership, training, and support to subordinates. Ensure continuity of operations at all levels. Ensure open communication. * Promote harmony within and between all departments. Consistently apply and implement Goodwill policies and procedures to protect Goodwill from legal liability. Report any situation to the Chief Operating Officer that may require attention or action. Provide recommendations and workable solutions whenever possible. * Work cooperatively with all department heads to ensure the most effective and efficient handling of donated goods. QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education: * A Bachelors degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Transportation, Business Administration or a similar field of study is required. Experience: * At least ten (10) years' experience in product logistics management, supervising and managing people and financial plans/budgets, or a strong combination of education and experience. * Strong financial acumen. * Transportation and logistics management includes dock and warehouse operation and vehicle maintenance. Other: * Must have advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook/Excel/Word/PowerPoint). * Must have advanced working knowledge of transportation safety best practices and regulations. * Proven ability to evaluate, recommend and implement transportation management tools, policies/procedures and software to meet current and future business needs. * Demonstrated success managing multiple functions, projects and priorities. * Strong ability to lead teams and collaboratively partner with other business groups. * Solid communication and customer service skills with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of employees and customers in a diverse community. * Proven ability to coach and develop talent. * Strong work ethic, self-starter, problem-solver, and team player. Must be an advocate for our mission and values. * Flexibility to work when needed, which may include weekdays, weekends, evenings, and holidays. * The incumbent will be required and must have the ability to drive for company business*. *Per auto vehicle insurance carrier requirements: For applicants/employees to qualify for inclusion on the Goodwill driver insurance schedule, for purpose of driving Goodwill fleet vehicles, or for purpose of receiving company mileage reimbursement they must be at least: * 21 years of age (not engaged in passenger transportation), * 25 - 70 years of age for all passenger transportation services, * 25 years of age for CDL.
