Our Construction Equipment group is currently seeking a Sales & Delivery Operations Specialist for our Waukegan location. The expected base salary for this role ranges between $80,000-$90,000/year based on overall candidate experience.


The Sales & Delivery Operations Specialist is responsible for managing the end-to-end execution of sold equipment through final delivery, ensuring a seamless and professional customer experience. This role works in close partnership with the Sales Coordinators, who are responsible for order creation, documentation, and system entry. Once the order is initiated, the Sales & Delivery Operations Specialist owns the tracking, and execution of the delivery process-ensuring alignment between Sales, Service, Parts, Inventory, and the customer. The position plays a critical role in improving workflow visibility, eliminating bottlenecks, and standardizing processes to enhance the overall equipment delivery experience.



Key Responsibilities:



  • Partner closely with Sales Coordinators to ensure a smooth handoff from order entry to fulfillment, maintaining alignment on order details, timing, and requirements.
  • Coordinate across Inventory, Service, and Parts teams to ensure equipment and all required components are available, prepped, and ready for delivery.
  • Proactively communicate with Service teams to monitor equipment readiness, prep status, and timing.
  • Identify risks to delivery timelines early and drive resolution through cross-functional collaboration.
  • Coordinate delivery schedules with customers, ensuring clear expectations and adherence to agreed delivery windows.
  • Provide consistent, timely updates to regarding order status, delivery timing, and potential issues.
  • Ensure all elements of delivery (equipment, attachments, documentation, logistics) are aligned and executed correctly.
  • Track and manage key delivery milestones, maintaining visibility into order pipeline and delivery schedules.
  • Identify gaps, inefficiencies, and breakdowns in the order-to-delivery workflow and develop process improvements.
  • Create, implement, and standardize processes and systems that improve communication, accountability, and execution across departments.
  • Support coverage of gaps within the sales process across Burris locations as needed.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Product Support (Service & Parts), and Operations to deliver a best-in-class customer experience, aligning with the broader objective of seamless workflow integration across departments.
  • Incorporate Alta's Guiding Principles into daily activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain consistent, regular, and reliable attendance.



Qualifications & Requirements


Required:



  • 5+ years of experience in the construction equipment, heavy equipment, or dealership industry.
  • Strong understanding of sales, service, and equipment delivery workflows in a dealership environment.
  • Experience coordinating across multiple departments (Sales, Service, Parts, Inventory, or Operations).
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and drive execution in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to proactively identify and resolve issues.
  • Valid driver's license with ability to travel regionally across the greater Chicago area.


Preferred:



  • Experience working with Sales Coordinators, order entry processes, and dealership business systems (CRM/ERP).
  • Experience improving workflows, implementing process improvements, or supporting operational standardization.
  • Familiarity with equipment ordering, inventory coordination, and delivery logistics.

Travel Requirements



  • Regular regional travel between Burris locations in the greater Chicago area.



Physical Demands / Work Environment



  • Primarily office-based with frequent interaction across shop and yard environments.
  • Occasional exposure to heavy equipment, noise, and shop conditions.
  • Travel between branch locations required.
