The Facilities Technician supports the operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of IPG's Oxford campus facilities. This role is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting facility issues, coordinating repairs, and supporting a safe, compliant, and efficient manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience maintaining commercial, industrial, or manufacturing facilities and can work independently to resolve a variety of facility-related issues.
Building & Facility Maintenance
- Perform preventive maintenance and routine inspections on facility infrastructure and building systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair plumbing, carpentry, mechanical, and general building maintenance issues.
- Maintain and repair doors, locks, windows, flooring, ceilings, furniture, and other facility assets.
- Complete carpentry, painting, patching, drywall, and other general maintenance tasks.
- Assist with basic maintenance and monitoring of HVAC, compressed air, lighting, and other facility support systems.
- Identify facility improvement opportunities and recommend corrective actions to improve reliability and efficiency.
- Support exterior building maintenance, grounds upkeep, and snow/ice removal activities.
General Facility Operations
- Respond to maintenance work orders and emergency repair requests in a timely manner.
- Independently diagnose facility-related problems and implement effective solutions.
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors to support facility projects, repairs, inspections, and preventative maintenance activities.
- Assist with facility renovations, equipment moves, office reconfigurations, and workspace setup activities.
- Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies, spare parts, tools, and equipment.
- Support facility projects and continuous improvement initiatives as assigned.
Safety & Compliance
- Conduct routine facility and safety inspections to identify potential hazards and maintenance concerns.
- Ensure all work is performed in accordance with OSHA requirements, company policies, and applicable building codes.
- Support environmental, health, and safety initiatives across the facility.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, inspection logs, and compliance documentation.
- Participate in emergency response activities, including storm preparation, facility shutdown/startup procedures, and business continuity efforts.
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED required; technical school or trade certification preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in facilities maintenance, building maintenance, construction, industrial maintenance, or a related trade.
- Experience supporting a manufacturing, industrial, laboratory, or commercial facility environment preferred.
- Experience working with outside contractors and service providers preferred.
Technical Skills
- Working knowledge of plumbing, carpentry, building systems, and general maintenance practices.
- Basic understanding of HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and facility infrastructure systems.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities with the ability to work independently.
- Ability to read and interpret work orders, maintenance manuals, technical drawings, and basic blueprints.
- Proficient in the safe use of hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
- Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) or maintenance tracking software is preferred.
