About the Department

Lakewood's Emergency Department team provides high-quality, compassionate care to patients during emergent events. The team works collaboratively with physicians, nursing staff, ED techs, ambulance staff, students, and other healthcare departments to ensure coordinated patient care in a fast-paced environment.

Mission for Position

The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care while responding promptly and appropriately to emergent patient needs.

Duties & Responsibilities



  • Provide high-quality nursing care to Emergency Department patients.
  • Assess patient needs and develop individualized care plans.
  • Respond promptly and appropriately to emergency situations.
  • Perform emergency nursing procedures within RN scope of practice.
  • Monitor patient conditions and intervene as needed.
  • Accurately document patient care, medications, and clinical updates in EPIC.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, ED techs, and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and care teams.
  • Support patient safety, medication safety, and regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain competency with emergency medical equipment and procedures.


Position Type

This is a full-time position working 60-72 hours per pay period (0.75-0.9FTE). Hours vary between a 7:00am/7:00pm rotation, with every 3rd weekend and a holiday rotation required.

Qualifications

Qualifications



  • Active RN licensure with the Minnesota Board of Nursing.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification.
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course must be completed prior to the completion of orientation, along with the Trauma Systems Module from the Minnesota Department of Health in LHS HRIS system.

  • Experience with EPIC electronic medical records preferred.
  • Demonstrates sound clinical judgment in a fast-paced emergency care environment.
  • Communicates clearly and compassionately with patients, families, and care team members.
  • Collaborates effectively with physicians, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Maintains strong attention to detail in patient care, documentation, and safety practices.
