Department Summary

Humanities Technology (HumTech) is the dedicated technology partner for faculty, staff, and students in the Humanities division at UCLA. We offer a wide range of services, from email support to 3D modeling, and from quick advice to comprehensive programming and development. Our primary goal is to provide robust foundations that enhance humanities instruction and research. We collaborate on digital projects and deliver technical expertise and solutions tailored to the unique needs of the humanities community.
Position Summary

HumTech is hiring an Infrastructure Engineer to help build and advance the computing infrastructure for UCLA's Humanities Division. The work spans Linux, Windows, cloud, and virtualization (AWS and VMware vSphere).

HumTech is a small team serving a large client base; the ideal candidate thinks in terms of scale and efficiency. The role suits someone who looks at how things run today and sees how to make processes better, who'd rather automate and modernize than repeat the same effort. There's room to look at the broader picture and design infrastructure that grows more capable, allowing us to effectively serve the entire division.

The position has room to grow. The environment is wide enough to offer opportunities to pick up new skills, and we care more about someone who wants to keep learning and pushing things forward than about any single qualification. The role spans several areas of IT, and the ideal candidate is comfortable working across them, connecting the technical side to the division's academic mission.

The schedule is hybrid and flexible, with at least two days a week on campus at the Public Policy Building.
