Position Summary
Rantec Microwave Systems, Inc. has an immediate opening for a Process Engineer for Dip Brazing & Thermal Systems to support the optimization of our aluminum dip brazing and thermal processing lines. In this role, you will help drive our production capacity expansion by monitoring molten salt bath and cleaning line chemistry, supporting post-braze heat treating cycles (T4/T6 tempers), and utilizing metrology tools to ensure quality delivery of high-volume structural assemblies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process Control: Assist in optimizing pre-heating, molten salt dip brazing, and quenching processes for 6061 aluminum alloys.
  • Thermal Heat Treating: Support the management of solution heat treating and aging recipes to achieve required T6 temper properties.
  • Root cause analysis: Work alongside inspection and MRB team to review all rejects to determine cause and corrective actions.
  • Metrology & Inspection: Utilize CMM, gauges, and optical tools to check post-quench dimensional tolerances and monitor part distortion.
  • Capacity Support: Identify bottlenecks and propose workflow changes to reduce cycle times and increase production throughput.
  • Equipment Verification: Responsible for System Accuracy Tests (SAT) and Temperature Uniformity Surveys (TUS) following pyrometry guidelines.
  • Bath Maintenance: Monitor salt bath health, tracking moisture levels and contamination to ensure consistent brazing quality.
  • Cleaning Line chemistry: Responsible for maintaining total balance of cleaning line chemicals and tracking results.
  • Fixture Design: Contribute ideas for designing and modifying production fixtures to improve part loading and salt drainage.

Required Qualifications/Experience
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Materials, Chemical, or Metallurgical) OR an Associate degree with equivalent technical experience.
  • Experience: 1-3 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment (open to backgrounds in general heat treating, welding, chemical processing, or plating).
  • Alloy & Process Exposure: Familiarity with aluminum processing or exposure to brazing/thermal treatment methods.
  • Blueprint Literacy: Ability to read technical drawings and understand basic GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
  • This position requires the ability to obtain a SECRET security clearance.

Preferred Skills
  • Familiarity with 6061 aluminum or molten salt bath dip brazing.
  • Exposure to NDT methods (RT/PT) or quality standards like Nadcap, AS9100, or ISO 9001.
  • Experience using basic metrology equipment (calipers, micrometers, or basic CMM operation).

Rantec's benefit package includes medical, dental, life insurance, 401K, ESOP, FSA, Short- and Long-term disability, paid vacation, sick leave and holidays. Rantec employees work an Alternative 4/10 Workweek schedule Monday through Thursday.
