Under limited supervision, this position is to assist the Athletic Programs Manager to coordinate and implement diversified athletic programs and tournaments for the City of Clemson's residents and visitors. This position works within a general outline of work to be performed and helps develop work methods and sequences under the general supervision of the Athletic Programs Manager. Primary work hours will be Monday through Friday from 12:00pm to 9:00pm or until programs are completed for the evenings. Saturday and Sunday work as needed.

Essential Job Functions * Assists with the overall supervision and administration of all athletic programs and tournaments within the parks and recreational facilities. * Helps with the planning, implementing, and supervises diversified athletic programs and tournaments to meet the needs, interests and abilities of city residents and visitors. * Assists in recruiting, retaining, training, scheduling, supervising, and managing seasonal employees, sports officials, instructors, volunteers, and interns for all athletic programs and tournaments. * Helps with all marketing, advertising, and promotional campaigns for athletic programs and tournaments to the public through the news media and other appropriate means. Maintains athletic division webpage and social media platforms. * Assists with program timeline, and schedules and communicates it to employees, participants, and outside departments needed for all athletic programs and tournaments for various age groups. Including (not limited to), registration flyers, practice schedules, games schedules, picture schedules, tournament schedules and etc. * Helps coordinate and communicate the registration of participants for programs and all field rentals both in person and online to employees, participants, and outside departments needed; may collect and prepare receipts and reports for program fees and rentals. * Attends athletic activities; makes periodic observations and evaluations of athletic programs and assures equitable distribution of talent and abilities, proper use of equipment and facilities, and sportsmanship. * Receives, responds, and provides solutions to inquiries, requests for assistance, injury report forms, concerns, and complaints of programs from participants and the general public. * Investigates and makes decisions on protests, rainouts, player suspensions, organization suspensions, termination of agreements, and other problem situations. * Takes appropriate steps to ensure the safety of all citizens who utilize athletic facilities, enroll in programs, request rentals and take part in any activity offered by the department. * Maintains inventory of necessary uniforms, equipment, materials, and supplies. * Attends league, city, staff, and community meetings and events as appropriate. * Attends trainings, conferences, workshops, etc., as appropriate to enhance job knowledge and skills. * Assists the Athletic Programs Manager in preparing the budget for the athletic division and forecasts expenses. * Performs general administrative/clerical work as required, including but not limited to preparing reports and correspondence, entering and retrieving computer data, copying and filing documents, answering the telephone, etc. * Work is performed under the supervision of the Athletic Programs Manager and is reviewed through weekly and monthly staff meetings, and performance evaluation documents. Additional Job Functions * Serves as a member of various City employee and community committees, as assigned. * Meets with appropriate associations and organizations; maintains communication. * Fills in for other positions within the department. * Performs related duties as required.

Minimum qualifications & Requirements

Education and Experience Requirements Associate's degree in Parks, Recreation, Tourism, Business Administration, or a related field and at least two (2) years of full-time experience in recreation and/or sports program administration; or any equivalent combination of training and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Licenses or Certifications Must possess a valid South Carolina driver's license. Must be able to obtain First Aid and CPR certification in the first six (6) months.
