Summary: Produces high-quality ultrasonic images and assists with specialized studies under the clinical direction of a Radiologist. Maintains responsibility for image quality, patient care, safety, and sterile technique. Participates in additional activities to support departmental operations. Works under the guidance of registered breast sonographers and performs all duties under their supervision. Responsibilities: 1. Produces Ultrasound images and examinations, abdominal scans and scans of other anatomical areas to include, but not limited to obtain history and/or examination data and evaluates for contraindicating conditions. 2. Reviews pathology reports for correlation with sonograms. 3. Performs water enemas and retrograde filling of bladder for pelvic scans, as needed. 4. Takes and monitors vital signs. 5. Adjusts and controls equipment. 6. Reviews film for clinically acceptable results and releases patients and Prepares room by gathering and setting up equipment, supplies and contrasts; assists physician during invasive procedures. 7. Applies AIUM guidelines and patient protection guidelines. Operates and maintains sonographic equipment, film processors, computers, and other departmental equipment.
