Journeyman Sheet Metal Mechanic - Austin, TX

• Install, assemble, and secure sheet metal ductwork, fittings, hangers, and HVAC components (e.g., air handlers, VAV boxes, fans, ventilators, grease ducts, and hoods).
• Measure, cut, fabricate, and join sheet metal components using hand tools, power tools, and welding/soldering equipment.
• Perform system layout and field coordination, identifying structural constraints and ensuring proper routing and support of duct systems.
• Conduct system testing (air/smoke testing) to verify performance and identify leaks or deficiencies.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering to TDIndustries' safety programs, PPE requirements, and 6S standards (Safety, Sort, Set, Shine, Standardize, Sustain).
• Participate in Pre-Task Safety Planning (PTSP) and proactively address safety risks.
• Collaborate with project teams, including plumbers, welders, and pipefitters, to ensure coordination across trades.
• Provide guidance, mentorship, and technical support to apprentices and less experienced team members.
• Report installation challenges, safety concerns, and quality issues to supervisors in a timely manner.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support project success.
• Interpret and execute work from blueprints, shop drawings, submittals, and specifications to ensure accurate and efficient installation of HVAC duct systems.

• High School Diploma or GED required; trade school or craft training preferred
• 4+ years of experience in sheet metal / HVAC construction
• Working knowledge of HVAC systems, duct fabrication, and installation best practices
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and technical documents
• Familiarity with local building codes and industry standards
