Job Summary

This position is responsible for developing accurate and timely proposals and estimates for private work projects of more than $25 million while ensuring alignment with Graniterock's Core Values and business objectives.

Essential Job Accountabilities

1. Comply, understand, and promote corporate and division safety initiatives to ensure "Safety before All Else."

2. Develop and maintain customer relationships to increase bid opportunities and successful pursuits.

3. Collaborate with the Director of Business Development to build a strategic pipeline of potential work in the Sacramento region by monitoring market trends and anticipating client needs.

4. Ability to understand various scopes of work based on project plans and specifications including earthwork, structures, falsework, underground utilities, site concrete, etc.

5. Analyze and compile estimate data that affect the cost of labor, materials, equipment requirements, location and other factors to ensure a high quality and timely estimate.

6. Review drawings, specifications and proposed project site conditions and solicit input from field operations to include in final project estimate.

7. Recognize and understand the appropriate environmental policies, rules, and the potential affects to the environment due to operations and take steps necessary to comply with policy/rules and mitigate the effects of operations.

8. Evaluate bidding risks and strategies, present estimate and participate in bid reviews with operations and the estimating team to ensure accuracy and completeness.

9. Conduct drawing reviews, specifications, and proposed project site conditions; record findings and solicit input from field operations to include in final project estimate.

10. Attend pre-construction meetings to ensure bid communication with the field operations is delivered.

11. Coach and mentor estimating team members to ensure our bench is prepared for future opportunities.

12. Lead preconstruction activities, both internally and on joint ventures to ensure a high quality, competitive estimates and schedules.

Education and Work Experience

* Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or equivalent related work experience.

* 15+ years of estimating experience that includes earthwork, structures, falsework, underground utilities, site concrete, etc.

* 3+ years of management experience preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

* Proficiency with all MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), AGTEK Take-off, and Primavera

* Advanced knowledge of HCSS Heavybid Estimating software.

* Advanced knowledge of civil engineering principles

* Advanced knowledge of construction principles.

* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

* Ability to meet multiple tight deadlines

* Excellent knowledge of agency Disadvantaged Business Enterprise requirements and goals

* Must have valid California driver's license and clean driving record
