| Primary Function of Organizational Unit |
The Department of Nursing emerges from the challenge to meet the manpower needs for quality health care locally, nationally and globally. The role and scope of the Department of Nursing are reflected in the characteristics of selected learning environments and their ability to enhance individual productivity in a changing society. The Department of Nursing provides essential service to improve the quality of life for all people through quality educational programs research and scholarly endeavors, and community service. |
| Primary Purpose of Position |
The primary purpose of this position is to ensure the efficient day-to-day operation of the Department of Nursing and serve as the first point of contact with students and parents/caregivers; aid in the management of operational funds; create, administer, and analyze various reports for accreditation and membership agencies; supervise work-aid, work-study, and graduate assistant students; maintain adequate and accurate employee records; take minutes during faculty/staff meetings. |
| Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities |
The successful candidate must possess a working knowledge of Student Banner or an equivalent system; knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint) Applications; knowledge of budget and office management; knowledge of writing reports; knowledge of planning special events and meetings; ability to work independently with little or no supervision; to take initiative to see projects and assignments through to completion; to learn, interpret and analyze information to make necessary decisions; to exercise judgment and discretion in problem solving; to plan, prioritize and organize workflow; ability to work flexible schedules; excellent analytical and organizational skills along with written and oral communication skills, excellent editing skills; great interpersonal skills to interact effectively and diplomatically with a wide range of individuals in a high pressure environment. |

- Plan and direct the development of the Department of Nursing operating budget and finances
- Make timely and appropriate decisions related to finances on behalf of the department
- Advise the Chair and Dean on the impact of budget commitments and communicate arising matters for the Department of Nursing.
- Structure internal budgeting processes and establish internal controls to monitor operations and maintain budget limitations
- Provide assists with newly developed grants and monitor the budgets to make sure expenditures align with approved purchases.
