Construction Inspector, McAllen, TX

Halff has an immediate opening for a Construction Inspector to join our team located in McAllen, TX. The ideal candidate will bring at least 5 years of construction inspection experience conducting on-site inspections to ensure construction projects adhere to design specifications, codes, and regulations.

This position will support construction services activities by monitoring and overseeing inspection of construction methods and workmanship to ensure compliance with plans and specifications, provides training for other construction inspection personnel, maintains working relationships with internal and external customers as well as contractors staff, assists with the development of policies and procedures for the construction services team, and provides highly advanced problem resolution on complex projects. What you will do:



  • Conduct on-site inspections to ensure construction activities comply with project plans, specifications, and industry standards.
  • Document and report construction progress, issues, and discrepancies to project management.
  • Verify materials, workmanship, and quality control measures meet project requirements.
  • Monitor the quality of construction materials, workmanship, and techniques used during the construction process.
  • Perform field measurements and calculations to ensure accurate and precise construction outcomes.
  • Review and interpret construction plans and specifications to verify compliance.
  • Monitor and enforce safety protocols to ensure a secure working environment.
  • Keep detailed records of daily activities, inspections, and testing results.
  • Provide support in preparing reports and documentation for regulatory agencies as required.


What you will need:



  • 5 or more years of inspection experience.
  • Understanding of construction methods, materials, and techniques.
  • Familiarity with relevant local, state, and federal building codes and regulations.
  • Knowledge of construction safety practices and protocols.
  • Ability to interpret construction plans and specifications.
  • Basic understanding of civil engineering principles.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent observational and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Proficient in using construction testing equipment and tools.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Comfortable using relevant software for documentation and reporting.
  • Comfortable working outdoors and in various weather conditions.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to travel to construction sites and work flexible hours as needed.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Prolonged periods climbing, walking, lifting, or standing at project sites.
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds.
  • May need to travel to various project sites.
  • Must be able to access and navigate job sites and construction areas.
