Position Summary

The Yakima Memorial Foundation Executive Director works in partnership with the Foundation Board of Trustees and staff to provide leadership, vision, and strategic direction for the Foundation. The Foundation Executive Director plans, organizes and directs the organization's fundraising activities in partnership with community relations programs in alignment with the organization's strategic goals. Hospital-based leaders may have a dual matrixed reporting structure.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the overall success of the Memorial Foundation with direct oversight and management of assets, budgeting, strategic planning, finance, fundraising, communications and board relations.
  • Engages external constituencies as a spokesperson and fundraiser, builds positive relationships with partner organizations, funders, the media and others.
  • Formulates fundraising plans, conceives and initiates new strategies for meeting the Foundation's goals regarding financial support of the organization.
  • Responsible for creating, implementing and measuring the success of a comprehensive marketing, communications, and public relations program that will enhance the Foundation's image and position.
  • Develops and implements an integrated strategic communications plan to advance the Foundation's brand identity; broadens awareness of its programs and priorities; and increases the visibility of its programs across key stakeholder audiences.
  • Regularly evaluates changing trends in philanthropy, tax, and estate planning regulations to develop new programs responsive to fundraising activities.
  • Works with Yakima Valley Memorial stakeholders to build strong outreach programs in patient, community, corporate and foundation relations.
  • Reviews and approves contracts with industry partners and corporate sponsors for support of the Foundation.
  • Assists Yakima Memorial President in developing and implementing the organization's strategic long-and short-range goals and its business plan.
  • Assists the Yakima Memorial President in maintaining positive community relations and serving as liaison with Physicians, staff and the public.
  • Leads and guides the work of the Foundation Board of Trustees. Works closely with Board of Trustees to support the Yakima Memorial President in helping develop a strong board.
  • Develops and manages direct staff, to include managers in assigned areas. Guides larger multi-disciplinary teams outside of direct span of control.
  • Engages other members of the Executive Leadership Team to facilitate cross-department collaboration that ensures that all provider solutions positively support Yakima Valley Memorial evolving strategy, operational delivery, and data collection needs.
  • Provides guidance on attracting and developing key team members for Yakima Valley Memorial.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, communication or related discipline
  • Master's degree preferred
  • Ten (10) years professional experience in personal solicitation in fundraising or like vocation such sales
  • Eight (8) years of experience and demonstrated skills in progressive philanthropic organization management/leadership roles to include direct management of a philanthropic team
  • Six (6) years of experience in working with/leading a philanthropic board of directors
  • Proven track record securing new major gift level contributions from donor prospects and renewing and upgrading gifts from existing donors
  • Current Washington State Driver's license and proof of a safe driving record (which meets established MHS Standards) obtained by a motor vehicle report from the State of Washington and use of an insured automobile for work purposes

Pay and Benefit Expectations

We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $157,060.80 - $226,033.60 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant's years of experience align.
