SUMMARY

The Digital Press Assistant Operator provides essential production support within a digital print environment by assisting with material movement, product handling, equipment support, and workflow coordination. This entry-level position helps ensure that printed corrugated products move through production efficiently while maintaining high standards for quality, safety, and housekeeping.

The position supports Digital Press Operators through staging, bundling, inspection, and organization of materials, while developing foundational knowledge of digital print processes, department procedures, and operational best practices.



DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  1. Operate and monitor conveyor and strapping equipment to support the safe and efficient movement, bundling, and organization of printed corrugated products in accordance with production requirements.
  2. Assist Digital Press Operators with loading, unloading, staging, stacking, and transporting materials throughout the production process.
  3. Support material handling activities for boxes, displays, signage, banners, and other specialty print products as directed.
  4. Inspect products during handling and bundling activities to identify visible defects, damage, quantity discrepancies, or quality concerns, and communicate issues appropriately.
  5. Maintain clean and organized work areas, including conveyor systems, strapping stations, staging locations, carts, pallets, and production support areas.
  6. Perform routine cleaning, housekeeping, and general production support activities to maintain operational efficiency and minimize downtime.
  7. Communicate job status, material requirements, equipment concerns, and production issues to operators, leads, and management as needed.
  8. Support adherence to production schedules by helping minimize workflow interruptions and bottlenecks.
  9. Learn and comply with all applicable safety procedures, quality standards, operating procedures, and department expectations.
  10. Assist team members with general production support activities as required to meet operational objectives.
  11. Special projects and assignments as business dictates.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES



  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.


SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS



  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 0-2 years of experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, production, or print environment preferred.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, including production tickets, and established process protocols.
  • Strong attention to detail when handling, counting, stacking, and bundling products.
  • Ability to meet productivity expectations while maintaining quality standards.
  • Dependable, proactive, and willing to learn digital print production processes.
  • Must have attention to detail and focused concentration.
  • Must be able to complete tasks that require a particular speed or productivity quota.
  • Must be able to adhere to process protocol and must be able to apply established protocols in a timely manner.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS



  • Regularly lift up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Regularly stand, walk, bend, and move materials throughout the production area.
  • Frequently use hands to handle materials, equipment, and finished products.
  • Frequently communicate verbally and hear operational instructions.
  • Regularly reach with hands and arms.
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
