Role: Accounts Payable / Accounting Specialist

Location: Long Island City, NY
Candidates must be willing to travel to Connecticut for the onsite interview process.

Salary: $65,000 - $85,000 + Benefits

Position Overview:

A well-known organization is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable / Accounting Specialist to join its team. The ideal candidate will have strong full-cycle AP experience and be comfortable working in a highly manual environment while helping drive process improvements, automation, and efficiencies over time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the full accounts payable cycle from invoice processing through payment execution

  • Review, code, and process invoices accurately using appropriate GL accounts

  • Perform account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies

  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of debits, credits, and accounting principles

  • Assist with month-end close activities and AP reporting

  • Support efforts to automate and streamline AP processes over the next 1-2 years

  • Maintain accurate records and ensure timely vendor payments

Qualifications:

  • Strong full-cycle Accounts Payable experience

  • Solid understanding of GL coding, reconciliations, debits, and credits

  • Accounting, bookkeeping, or AP-focused background with strong accounting fundamentals

  • Experience working in a manual accounting environment

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Ability to identify process improvement opportunities and contribute to automation initiatives

Preferred Background:

  • Accountant with significant AP responsibilities

  • Bookkeeper with heavy AP and reconciliation experience

  • Senior AP professional with a strong accounting foundation

  • the individual's skill sets, experience and training;
