Inside the Role

The PDI Technician / Driver is a hybrid role responsible for performing pre delivery inspections (PDI) on new and used motor coaches while also safely transporting vehicles to and from the Jacksonville PDI Center, customers, ports, and other designated locations. This position supports delivery readiness, quality compliance, logistics coordination, and provides backup support to the Sales team during vehicle receiving and delivery activities.
All duties are performed in accordance with Daimler Coach North America procedures and policies, manufacturer guidelines, and applicable safety and regulatory requirements.

    PDI Technician Responsibilities

    • Perform PreDelivery Inspections (PDI) on new motor coaches in accordance with Daimler Coach North America procedures and manufacturer specifications.
    • Follow PDI instruction sheets to ensure vehicles are fully compliant and customerready prior to delivery.
    • Install dealerinstalled options and complete customerspecific requirements as outlined in delivery orders.
    • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair deficiencies identified during inspections, including electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and HVAC systems.
    • Inspect used or tradein motor coaches and compile accurate lists of defects for review by supervision.
    • Support the implementation of factory campaigns, recalls, and retrofit activities as required.
    • Accurately document inspection results, repairs, and corrective actions in accordance with company standards.
    Driver / Transport Responsibilities
    • Safely operate motor coaches on local roads, highways, and longdistance routes in compliance with all state and federal regulations.
    • Transport new and preowned motor coaches between the Jacksonville PDI Center, customers, port authorities, and other assigned destinations throughout the United States.
    • Pick up motor coaches from port authorities and other external locations as required.
    • Conduct test drives following PDI completion to verify vehicle performance and quality.
    • Exercise parked motor coaches on a defined schedule and maintain accurate records of vehicle movement and usage.
    • Provide backup support to the Sales team for receiving and delivering new and preowned vehicles to and from customers.
    • Perform minor detailing or cleaning activities prior to vehicle delivery when required.
    • Act as a professional brand ambassador for Daimler Coaches North America and MercedesBenz Motor Coaches.

    Additional Responsibilities

    • Perform other duties as assigned, including reasonable, jobrelated ad-hoc requests, in support of PDI Center operations, logistics activities, and business needs, provided such duties are consistent with the employee's skills, training, and applicable safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.

    Qualifications

    Required Education and Experience

    • High School Diploma or equivalent.
    • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a workshop, maintenance, or commercial vehicle environment.
    • Prior motor coach or bus experience preferred.
    • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger (P) endorsement, or ability to obtain prior to employment.

    Technical Skills and Abilities

    • Working knowledge of motor coach electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and HVAC systems.
    • Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and correct vehicle defects.
    • Ability to read and understand technical documents and schematics (preferred).
    • Basic computer proficiency for documentation and reporting.
    • Must supply own basic hand tools.

    Work Requirements

    • Ability to drive up to 8-10 hours per day, including longdistance travel.
    • Willingness to travel on short notice and remain away from home base for up to 10 days at a time.
    • Ability to work occasional weekends to meet delivery schedules.
    • Ability to obtain credentials required to access port authorities and customer facilities.
