POSITION OVERVIEW
Directs, oversees, plans, and organizes the operation of the Environmental Services Department for assigned campus. Directly supervises and coordinates the work activities of laundry and housekeeping services adhering to federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations governing the health campus. Travels as requested to assist other campus Director of Environmental Services. Ensures that the facility is maintained in a clean, safe, and comfortable manner. Plans and prepares employee work schedules to meet the needs of the campus business plan. Key Responsibilities
- Coordinates activities with other departments to ensure that services are provided in an efficient and timely manner.
- Inspects work performed to ensure that it meets specifications and established standards.
- Perform or assist with various laundry and/or housekeeping duties as necessary.
- Confers with staff to resolve performance issues and to discuss operational standards of excellence.
- Ensures that the health campus is maintained in a clean and safe manner for resident comfortnand convenience by assuring that necessary equipment and supplies are maintained and operable to perform necessary services.
- Ensures that a stock level of environmental services supplies, Linen par levels, disinfectants, equipment, etc. is maintained.
- Reviews safety and fire protection and prevention programs, work areas and equipment at least weekly.
- Ensures that current Safety Data Sheets (SDS's) for hazardous chemicals used by the
housekeeping department are on file and easily accessible. - Reviews containers of hazardous chemicals in the department to ensure that all are properly labeled and stored. Reports problem areas to the Executive Director, the Director of Plant Operations, and the Quality Assurance Team.
- Reviews and ensures that Environmental Services personnel are trained to use labels and SDS's to recognize hazards and to follow appropriate protective measures.
- Implements infection control and universal precautions policies and procedures to assure that a sanitary environment is maintained at all times and that aseptic and isolation techniques are followed by all environmental services personnel.
- Oversees Environmental Services team in the performance of tasks that involve potential exposure to blood, body fluids, or hazardous chemicals and ensures their participation in appropriate in-service training programs prior to performing such tasks.
- Ensures that Environmental Services team follows established hand washing procedures.
- Ensures that Environmental Services team follows established policies governing the
use/disposal of personal protective equipment and disposal of infectious wastes. - Reports occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and hazardous chemicals in accordance with the facility's established policies and procedures governing accidents and incidents.
- Monitors environmental services procedures to ensure that supplies are used in an efficient manner to avoid waste.
- Ensures that appropriate personal protective equipment used in the handling of infectious materials is available and easily accessible to environmental services personnel.
- Places orders for equipment and supplies as necessary or as may be required.
- Ensures that equipment contaminated with blood or other infectious waste is properly
labeled/tagged before being sent for repair or decontamination. - Investigates complaints about service and equipment and takes corrective action to meet company standards.
- Inspect and evaluate the physical condition of the health campus to determine the type of work required, plan of action and follow-up/inspection of work completed.
- Attends and participates in annual company required in-service training programs.
- Follows all safety regulations, programs and policies and procedures.
- Conserves resources by adhering to financial stewardship using prudent judgment related to expense(s) incurred by the Company.
- Assists in the interviewing process for new Director of Environment Services within assigned Division.
- Assists in training of newly hired Director of Environmental Services within the Division.
