Position Summary Perform simple routine and/or unskilled repairs or replacement of Plumbing fixtures, equipment of plumbing systems and related facilities using appropriate tools and equipment; assist Leads, Journey Plumbers, or Facilities Mechanics with tasks related to maintenance, replacement, or installation of plumbing systems and equipment. Identify malfunctions or problems and report to Journey Plumber, Lead Plumber, or Senior Superintendent. Replace toilet seats, bathroom hardware, faucet washers, or reset garbage disposals etc. Operate and maintain a variety of power or hand tools, transport materials and personnel to and from job site, clean up job site and return equipment and follow all safety procedures. Salary & Compensation UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Qualifications* Ability to perform routine plumbing maintenance tasks, including minor plumbing repairs. (Required) Working knowledge of the various power and hand tools, equipment, and materials of the plumber's trade. (Required) Ability to: work as part of a team through close collaboration with colleagues; work independently and follow through on assignments. (Required) Skill in: reading standard English text in order to follow through on written orders and carry out assignments; writing simple English phrases using correct grammar and spelling to complete reports that are accurate and easy to comprehend. (Required) Oral communication skills to obtain or convey clear, concise and grammatically correct information. (Required) Skill in performing basic mathematical calculations: adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing. (Required) Ability to: stand, crawl, walk and stoop; push, pull and lift or lower objects weighing up to 50 lbs; work indoors and outdoors, in wet or humid weather, and in fluctuating and/or extreme temperatures; work under adverse situations and conditions, e.g., dirty, noisy, etc. (Required) Ability to work in confined spaces wearing full protective respirator equipment. (Required) Ability to work overtime and weekends as needed. (Required) Must possess California Driver's License, Class C and have the ability to drive a truck or other light vehicle in the course of duties. (Required) Working knowledge of standard safe work practices. (Required) Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations Must possess, upon hire, and maintain a valid CA noncommercial Class C License in accordance with the California (CA) Department of Motor Vehicles. (Required) Special Conditions for Employment Background Check: Continued employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background investigation. Age Requirement: Candidate(s) must be 18 years or older to be eligible to be hired. Pre-Placement Physical: Employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory physical examination.
