Description

UCLA Health's Neuropsychiatric Hospital is seeking a dedicated Senior Storekeeper to join our Nutrition Department. In this vital role, you will help ensure that food, supplies, and materials are received, stored, and distributed safely and efficiently, supporting exceptional patient care while maintaining compliance with regulatory and safety standards.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

Inventory & Storage Management
* Maintain organized storage areas, refrigerators, and freezers.
* Monitor storage conditions to ensure product quality and food safety.
* Rotate and label inventory using FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures.
* Ensure compliance with JCAHO, CDPH, and Title 22 requirements.

Receiving & Quality Control
* Receive and inspect incoming deliveries for accuracy, quality, and condition.
* Verify quantities and product specifications.
* Accept or reject shipments based on established standards.
* Communicate shortages, substitutions, and out-of-stock items to Purchasing.

Distribution & Documentation
* Process and fulfill supply requisitions for hospital departments.
* Accurately distribute food and supply items throughout the facility.
* Maintain required temperature logs and inventory documentation.

Inventory Support
* Assist with inventory counts and stock organization.
* Support ordering activities to ensure uninterrupted departmental operations.
* Help maintain efficient inventory levels while minimizing waste.

Effective June 22, 2025, employees represented by the AFSCME Union receive a minimum hourly wage of $25.00.

*This position requires flexibility to work across multiple locations during the training period.

Qualifications
  • Knowledge of JCAHO and departmental sanitation and safety standards as they apply to kitchens, food storage and supply handling.
  • Ability to communicate clearly oneonone with vendors, ordering units and management using appropriate vocabulary and grammar.
  • Skill in operating flat carts, twowheel dollies and scales.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers without a calculator for filling orders, performing inventory counts and verifying invoice quantities.
  • Ability to use basic English to make corrections on receiving documents and requisitions, and to report or record vendor shortages or discrepancies.
  • Ability to read food and refrigeration thermometers and verify proper storage temperatures.
  • Clear telephone communication skills for placing orders and making vendor inquiries.
  • Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with coworkers, ordering units and vendors.
  • Ability to frequently lift up to 75 pounds, push or pull carts carrying up to 1500 pounds, bend to reach low shelves, reach overhead and climb ladders to store, rotate and issue supplies.
  • Ability to adapt to frequent workload changes and work effectively with interruptions.
  • Ability to work in environments with extreme temperature variations while using appropriate protective gear.
  • Ability to work independently and identify more efficient work methods.
  • Ability to work in a nonsmoking environment.
